“My grandmother was from Petah Tikva before moving to the U.S., and I dreamed of coming back to build my life here. In 2016, after graduating from the University of Minnesota, I came to Petah Tikva to teach English through a מסע - Masa Israel Journey program. Within months, I knew I was home. The next summer I made Aliyah and moved to Jerusalem. I worked as a waitress and started the international Master of Public Health program at Hebrew University. After some time I decided to switch from the International MPH program to the Israeli one to improve my Hebrew and integrate more. At the beginning it was very overwhelming. I would sit in class with a recording device and a pocket notebook where I’d jot down every unfamiliar word. Over time it got easier and eventually I noticed I was actually becoming familiar with Israeli health jargon. I realized that while I enjoy research, my true passion has always been helping people directly. I rekindled my dream of becoming a dentist which I had initially given up after making Aliyah. I had assumed that with only two dental schools in the country, my not yet fluent Hebrew, and a very competitive application process I would never get accepted. I was inspired by the healthcare professionals around me who could help people directly and I realized that I wanted to help people find their smile. I started to study for the Psychometry, applied, and was accepted to dental school at Tel Aviv University. Since moving to Tel Aviv, life has had its challenges but has also been rewarding. I married my Israeli husband, had two amazing children, and have been slowly but surely working towards my dentistry degree. In our student clinic, we treat patients under the close supervision of experienced specialists and dentists. We're exceptionally thorough, explain every procedure, and make dental care an approachable and accessible experience. Students are responsible for finding their own patients and I'm currently welcoming new cases! If you or someone you know is looking for attentive, high-quality dental care at a reduced rate, I'd love to treat you in our Tel Aviv clinic! Five and a half years ago, I made Aliyah. And I still get emotional watching other people take that same step. 🇮🇱❤️ I had the privilege of welcoming new Olim home to Israel, and then something happened that I absolutely did NOT expect. I saw Lana. Lana had interned for me during Covid, which means she worked for me…but we had never actually met in person! Neither of us knew the other would be there, and suddenly we were standing face-to-face in Israel. I don’t know who was more surprised. 💕 It was genuinely one of the most exciting moments. There’s something so powerful about watching someone arrive in Israel knowing that this isn’t just a trip. They’re coming home. So I have to ask… Have you ever seriously thought about making Aliyah? 🇮🇱 POLL: ❤️ Yes — it’s on my heart 🤔 Maybe… I’ve thought about it 🇮🇱 I already made Aliyah! ✈️ Not yet, but never say never And if Aliyah has been sitting somewhere in the back of your mind, maybe this is your little nudge to take one step. You don’t have to pack your bags tomorrow. You can simply start by filling out a Nefesh B’Nefesh application and seeing where the journey takes you. As we enter this new year, my blessing is that every one of us finds the courage to take the next right step toward the life, the people, and the place we’re meant to call home. Shana Tova, and welcome home to all of our new Olim. 🇮🇱❤️ https://www.nbn.org.il/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=abs
