Abdul El-Sayed won’t condemn the blatantly antisemitic ad in support of his campaign because he agrees with it. I’m not sure what else needs to be said at this point. Michigan voters should know what they’re voting for — or against. x.com/abdulelsayed/s…

There is no mechanism for a party to receive only one seat in the Knesset. The current threshold is 3.25% of the overall vote, equivalent to four seats, which has left several parties hovering at or just below the cutoff due to the high turnout in yesterday's election. x.com/petedwards/sta…

While Trump and Netanyahu have developed a close relationship, the U.S.-Israel alliance is deeper than any personal bond between a president and a prime minister and it will endure no matter who prevails in Israel’s election. From my conversation with @NBCNews’ @ChristineRomans.

Fun fact: Israel is a high-tech country, but its voting system is very low-tech. You go into a booth, take a little piece of paper with your chosen party's name printed on it, put it in an envelope, seal it, and drop it in a box. Every vote then needs to be counted manually. x.com/AviMayer/statu…

And now for the real results! The votes from Israel's election will be counted through the night. Only 29,379 votes from 128 polling places have thus far been accounted for. You can track the process — including the breakdown by party — in real time at votes26.bechirot.gov.il

Here's something: None of the exit polls show Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit party significantly increasing its share of the vote. It is hovering between 6 and 7 seats; it has 6 in the current Knesset. For all the talk about Israel swinging right, the numbers don't bear it out.

Benjamin Netanyahu has almost certainly lost his majority in parliament. But it may be too soon to count him out, and the effort to destroy Iran’s nuclear program remains a mission he wishes to complete. From my conversation with CNN’s @RichardQuest this evening.

A few thoughts about the narrowly averted disaster aboard the flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv today: 1. There were multiple failures here, including that the co-pilot and apparent perpetrator wasn't flagged in advance and that he was able to conceal and use a weapon of some sort to attack the captain while they were locked in the cockpit. 2. Flydubai is a government-owned airline and this incident is deeply embarrassing to both the airline and the UAE government. Emirati authorities will do everything in their considerable power to investigate what happened and prevent it from reoccurring. 3. The UAE is the only country in the world, aside from Israel, whose airlines have flown to and from Israel almost without interruption since October 7, 2023. The UAE has proven to be a deeply committed friend of Israel's and the Emiratis ascribe tremendous importance to both the bilateral relationship between the two countries and the maintenance of the air link between them. Flydubai's Tel Aviv route is one of the airline's busiest and most frequent, with up to ten daily flights in each direction. All of this reinforces the previous point: the Emiratis will do whatever they can to prevent this from happening again. 4. The only reason everyone on the plane is alive is because of the Indian captain, who did whatever he could to save his passengers after being savagely attacked by his co-pilot, and the Israeli passengers who decided to take matters into their own hands, break into the cockpit, subdue the perpetrator, and enable the plane to land safely. This is a tremendous testament to their heroism and bravery and to the Israeli spirit that has shown itself throughout Israel's existence and particularly during the past three years. 5. A word of appreciation for Saudi authorities, who—by all accounts—handled this incident with great professionalism, coordinated closely with Israeli authorities, and treated the passengers with courtesy and care. I am surely not the only Israeli who breathed a sigh of relief knowing that the plane had landed in Saudi Arabia. I'm not sure that would have been the case just a few years ago.
