China supports [00:24] the independent expert in continuing to [00:26] fulfill his important mandate. We thank [00:28] the independent and expert for their [00:30] valuable report. The United States has [00:31] become a major threat to international [00:33] order. [00:34] >> Now I give the floor to the [00:35] representative of United Nations Watch. [00:38] >> Mr. President, thank you for allowing us [00:40] to pose several questions to the expert. [00:42] Mr. Kachugalos, your report mentions [00:44] China 33 times. At page nine, you say [00:47] China is a central actor defending [00:49] international order. Xiinping is the new [00:51] guardian of global rules for free trade. [00:53] and Chinese discourse quote closely [00:55] aligns with the UN charter and peaceful [00:57] coexistence. At page 10, you recite [00:59] numerous Chinese initiatives that [01:01] contribute and I quote to the enjoyment [01:03] of all human rights, Mr. Kachugalis, we [01:05] ask if your report is truly about human [01:07] rights, then where are China's victims? [01:09] Where are the million wiggers subject to [01:11] mass detention, forced labor, and [01:13] religious persecution? Where are the [01:14] Tibetans whose culture, language, [01:16] religion Beijing systematically crushes? [01:18] Where are Hong Kong's imprisoned [01:20] democracy activists such as 78-year-old [01:22] Jimmy Lie? Where are the human rights [01:24] lawyers, journalists, dissident, [01:26] religious minorities jailed across [01:27] China? Where is Beijing's mass [01:29] censorship, its surveillance state, its [01:31] threats against Taiwan? Mr. Kachugalas, [01:33] oneif of humanity are denied free [01:35] elections, free speech, and basic [01:37] political rights. Why does none of this [01:38] appear in your account of China's [01:40] contribution to a democratic and [01:42] equitable world order? Now, you also [01:44] chair the UN committee overseeing all [01:46] human rights experts, and the UN [01:48] disclosed that China chose to donate [01:50] $100,000 to your mandate. Why did [01:52] Beijing choose you? What exactly did its [01:55] money finance? Did it support this [01:57] report? Who funded your two trips to [01:59] China mentioned on page two? Will you [02:01] acknowledge that such funding creates a [02:03] conflict? Will you commit today that all [02:05] of China's money will be returned? [02:07] >> I now give the floor to Mr. Kru Gallo. [02:45] Why China's goodwill has not been [02:47] cherished but instead distorted and [02:49] maligned. China has repeatedly [02:51] reaffirmed that Taiwan, Shing Jang, [02:53] Shiang and Hong Kong affairs are purely [02:56] China's internal affairs.
At the United Nations Human Rights Council, UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer asked George Katrougalos, the Chair of UN human rights experts, why his report glorifies China while erasing its victims — and how he used Beijing’s $100,000 donation.
He failed to answer my questions. Instead, he called UN Watch a “champion of antisemitism.”
China then accused UN Watch of “fabricating lies” and “maliciously smearing China’s economic cooperation with UN Special Procedure mandate holders.”
