Transcript [00:00] everyone. There was a terrorist attack [00:01] in uh in Judea uh that uh wounded five [00:06] Israelis. I think as of now that's what [00:08] it is. U and I want to show you how the [00:12] Western media reports this and I want to [00:14] use that as a way to talk about the [00:15] whole issue of settler violence that I [00:17] get asked about every single day here. [00:19] Take a look. Netanyahu orders lockdown [00:21] of West Bank after Kamas shooting wounds [00:24] five Israelis. At least they mentioned [00:25] it's Kamas and that they wounded five [00:27] Israelis in a terrorist attack. But the [00:29] headline is that Natanyao was ordering a [00:31] lockdown. But it gets worse if you you [00:34] know at least that you know there that [00:36] at least mentions the terrorist attack. [00:37] But look at this headline from the CBC. [00:40] Israeli soldiers fatally shoot two [00:42] Palestinians [00:44] near Hebrron. Netanyahu orders West Bank [00:46] lockdown. That's the headline. They were [00:49] carrying out a terrorist attack. Army [00:51] says it stopped a terror attack that [00:53] injured at least five. Meaning it's a [00:55] claim by the Israelis that there was a [00:56] terrorist attack. But the headline is [00:58] that the Israelis killed two [00:59] Palestinians. Look, I want you to [01:01] understand something. [01:04] This event was not a freak event. It [01:05] wasn't some rare explosion of violence [01:07] in an otherwise quiet place. Last year [01:10] alone, there were more than 5,000 [01:13] attacks on Jews in Judea and Samaria. [01:15] That works out to to about one every two [01:18] hours, day and night, for a full year. [01:20] 24 Israelis were murdered and more than [01:23] 170 were seriously injured. Now, let me [01:25] ask you, when the international media [01:27] starts talking about violence in Judea [01:29] and Samaria, do you hear about that? You [01:33] don't hear Palestinian terror. You hear [01:35] settler violence. You hear it from the [01:37] UN. You hear it from the European Union, [01:39] from the BBC, from the New York Times. A [01:41] few years ago, you heard it from the [01:42] White House under Biden. And it was used [01:44] to justify sanctions on Israeli [01:46] citizens. So today I want to do [01:49] something that uh that we should be [01:52] doing more of and that not enough people [01:55] are doing and and that is I want to look [01:57] at the numbers. So almost every story [01:59] about settler violence goes back to one [02:02] source and it's called the United [02:04] Nations Office for Coordination of [02:06] Humanitarian Affairs known as OCHA and [02:08] they keep a database on their website of [02:11] settler violence and it claims to [02:12] document all these incidents uh all the [02:15] it has a a number of lists of incidents [02:19] of settler related violence settler [02:21] related violence it's a very interesting [02:23] term and there's an Israeli organization [02:24] a very important one I've mentioned them [02:26] before called rigavim and they went [02:28] through that database line by line. It [02:31] they took a uh uh the data from seven [02:35] and a half years from January 2016 to [02:38] April 2023. [02:40] And they read every single entry and [02:41] looked up what the incident was. They [02:43] did the research. It was 8,332 [02:47] incidents. So the UN lists, wow, during [02:49] that time period there were over 8,000 [02:51] incidents of settler violence. but they [02:54] call them in incidents involving Israeli [02:56] settlers and other Israeli civilians. [02:58] 8,000. That's the number that gets [02:59] quoted. So, let's open it up and see [03:01] what's inside. Well, it turns out that [03:04] about 20% of the incidents didn't happen [03:06] in Judea and Samaria. They happened in [03:08] Jerusalem. But because the Palestinians [03:10] and the pro Palestinian crowd don't [03:13] recognize Israel's sovereignty over [03:14] Jerusalem, acts of violence in Jerusalem [03:16] are called settler violence. Has nothing [03:18] to do with it. Okay? Whatever they are, [03:20] they're not settler violence. That's 20% [03:21] of them. There's another 16% that are [03:24] about the Temple Mount. Literally in [03:26] this database, a Jew visiting the Temple [03:29] Mount, visiting the holiest site in [03:31] Judaism, or confrontations between [03:34] Muslims on the Temple Mount and Israeli [03:36] police on the Temple Mount because [03:38] there's riots there all the time, or [03:41] just literally a Jew going up to pray on [03:43] the Temple Mount gets counted in the UN [03:45] database as an act of settler violence. [03:46] I kid you not. about 19% of what the [03:49] report calls are, I'm sorry, are what [03:52] the report calls general complaints, [03:55] things like trespassing, in practice, [03:57] that means Israeli hikers and tourists [04:00] walking somewhere. No one was hurt. [04:02] There was no violence, but they they're [04:04] included in there as settler violence. [04:07] Okay. The database also includes [04:09] tourists at archaeological sites, legal [04:13] infrastructure work being carried out by [04:15] the state of Israel. They call that [04:17] violence. They call that like, you know, [04:18] it's violating Palestinian land. Traffic [04:21] accidents are listed in there. Regime [04:23] went through every one of them and this [04:25] is what they found when they looked up [04:26] the incidents. Car accidents were called [04:28] settler violence. [04:31] And then there's the question about the [04:32] sources. About a thousand of the [04:34] incidents rest on a single source, the [04:37] Palestinian Authorities District [04:39] Coordination and Lazon Office. Okay. In [04:41] the database, that one source is [04:43] actually presented as two sources. So it [04:44] looks like corroboration, but it's the [04:46] exact same source. Now, when Rigav [04:49] filtered out everything that isn't [04:50] actually an allegation of Jewish [04:54] nationalist violence against against [04:56] Arabs causing physical harm, actual [04:58] violence, when they filtered everything [05:00] out, all that was left were 833 [05:04] incidents, 10% of the original list [05:07] spread out over seven and a half years. [05:09] That comes out to about nine allegations [05:12] a month. And these are all allegations. [05:14] Remember that. Okay? None of this is [05:17] just any allegation. So in other words, [05:19] understand what this report is. When you [05:21] hear in the media that there's a report [05:23] of thousands of incidents, it doesn't [05:25] mean that anything was proven. Anytime [05:27] there's any allegation by any [05:29] Palestinian body that there was settler [05:32] violence, it gets recorded as an [05:34] incident without any proof whatsoever. [05:37] Okay? Has nothing to do with how it got [05:39] adjudicated later on. So, of those 833 [05:43] alleged incidents where there was [05:46] actually violence, 48% of them, almost [05:51] half only say that there was involvement [05:54] in clashes without saying who started [05:56] anything. And dozens of them when you [05:58] look up the incidents are clear cases of [06:01] Palestinian terrorist attacks on Jews [06:04] filed under settler violence. Let me [06:06] give you a few examples because this is [06:08] where you know because the details is [06:10] where this really comes alive. April [06:13] 2018, a Palestinian from the Balata [06:16] refugee camp tries to stab Israeli [06:18] citizens at the Mishor Adumim industrial [06:21] area. An Israeli civilian stops him, [06:25] stops the terrorist. The terrorist is [06:28] wounded in the course of being stopped [06:31] from stabbing someone and he dies the [06:35] next day. So the UN recorded this as [06:39] settler violence and his death the next [06:43] day [06:44] was also recorded as a as a separate [06:48] act. [06:51] Okay. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. His his [06:53] attack his attack was called Palestinian [06:56] violence. The attack on him was called [06:58] settler violence. You get you get how [06:59] that was? It was two incidents. Two [07:01] incidents of violence where he was [07:02] trying to stab someone and was stopped [07:04] and was killed in the process. November [07:07] 2017, the village of Kusra, a group of [07:10] young Israeli hikers is attacked by [07:12] dozens of Palestinians throwing rocks. [07:14] One of the attackers, one of the one of [07:16] the Palestinian attackers grabs a gun [07:18] from a security guard and threatens to [07:21] shoot the kids. They run and hide in a [07:23] cave. The IDF comes and rescues them. [07:27] One of the adults with the group had a [07:29] gun and opens fire and opened fire and [07:32] kills one of the attacking terrorists. [07:35] The UN's version of it was that a [07:37] 48-year-old farmer was working his land [07:40] and 15 armed settlers came and shot him. [07:43] Okay. Or January 2023 at Kafern Nema. [07:47] The UN's description of the event was [07:49] that a 42-year-old Palestinian was on [07:52] his way to check his land and was shot [07:54] by a settler. But there's security [07:58] camera footage and you know what it [07:59] recorded? He came to an Israeli farm, [08:02] Kavat Fraim. He stabbed an Israeli there [08:05] and another Israeli shot him and they [08:06] found a second knife on his body. This [08:08] is the pattern. Okay, we could we could [08:10] go on all day. The terrorist becomes is [08:14] is uh is now a farmer. an attack [08:18] by him becomes an attack on him. The [08:20] Israeli who defends himself becomes the [08:22] aggressor. That's what this is. Now, [08:26] according to OSHA's own database, in [08:28] 2023, from January up until October 7th, [08:32] the famous October 7th, seven [08:34] Palestinians in the West Bank were [08:36] killed by Israeli settlers. Okay, seven. [08:40] That's the number that went out. and [08:41] Betellum, a far-left Israeli NGO, that's [08:44] no friend of the settlers, actually [08:45] published how each of these people died, [08:48] but they buried it deep in their online [08:50] database. But here's some of what they [08:51] wrote. Uh, for there was one case, [08:54] here's here's here's some of these [08:55] deaths. Abd al- Karim Badia, age 21, was [08:59] shot by a settler after entering a [09:01] settlement armed with knives and [09:03] explosive devices. [09:05] But that he's a victim of settler [09:06] violence. Tarak Mali, age 42, was shot [09:10] by a settler after trying to stab that [09:12] same settler in a field. [09:15] Get that? [09:17] And Muhammad Shahad was a kamas [09:19] terrorist in June 2023. He opened fire [09:23] outside the community of Ali, murdered [09:25] four Israelis. Two of them were [09:27] 17-year-old boys. An armed civilian shot [09:30] him dead at the scene. He's also counted [09:33] another terrorist, a kamas gunman who [09:35] murdered four Jews, is counted by the UN [09:39] as a victim of settler violence. You [09:41] understand this? [09:43] Now, you might assume that after October [09:44] 7th, the picture changed and this is [09:46] when the settlers went on a rampage. But [09:48] it's not true because according to [09:50] OSHA's own numbers, in the first two [09:52] years after October 7th, a total of 13 [09:55] Westbank Palestinians were killed by [09:57] Israeli civilians. 13 in two years. And [09:59] that almost all of them, I think all [10:02] except one are cases of self-defense. [10:03] And there was one who was run off the [10:05] road by rock throwing by Israelis and [10:08] and the passenger in his car killed. And [10:10] the perpetrators of that are sitting in [10:12] prison. [10:15] Now, think of what I told you at the [10:17] beginning. There have been more than [10:18] 5,000 [10:20] attacks on Jews in the past year in [10:23] Judea and Samaria. Terrorist attacks. [10:26] More than 5,000 in one year. and 24 [10:30] Israelis murdered. [10:32] Regaveim also went to the Israeli police [10:34] with a freedom of information request. [10:36] Between 2014 and 2024, [10:39] the Judea and Samaria district opened [10:42] 1,356 [10:43] files on suspicion of Jewish nationalist [10:46] violence or settler violence. That's [10:48] over 10 years. And some of those files [10:52] turned out to be about things like car [10:54] theft and drug possession. [10:58] But the indictment rate against Jewish [11:00] Israelis for nationalist offenses is [11:02] three times higher than against Arabs [11:04] for the same kind of offenses. So the [11:06] system is actually harder on Jews. [11:09] Anyway, a senior senior police officials [11:12] have said on multiple occasions that the [11:14] overwhelming majority of the complaints [11:17] that they receive about settler violence [11:19] turn out to be false. They say that the [11:21] complaints are filed by left-wing and [11:23] anarchist activists whose goal is to [11:25] inflame things. But remember what I told [11:28] you to get into the OCHA database at the [11:30] UN. All you need is a claim. All you [11:34] need is the complaint. It gets [11:35] registered as an incident. [11:37] You see, that's the way it works. Now, [11:41] there are Israelis who've attacked [11:42] Palestinians. Like I told you about that [11:44] one case with the with the rock throwing [11:46] in the car. There are cases. It does [11:48] happen. Things get tense. There's [11:50] interactions. It's real. And if any [11:54] Israelis take the law into their own [11:55] hand and attack and carry out attacks, [11:58] it's wrong and should be prosecuted. And [11:59] it is [12:02] it is it is prosecuted. [12:06] Look, [12:09] is violence a defining feature of half a [12:11] million Jews living in Judea and [12:12] Samaria? [12:15] No, it's not. [12:18] The data says that it's not. It's [12:20] marginal. It's prosecuted and it's [12:22] dwarfed by orders of magnitude by the [12:26] violence [12:27] perpetrated against that community by [12:29] the Arabs. [12:32] Now, why does all this matter? It [12:34] matters because the narrative isn't a [12:36] statistic. It's a moral framing. Once [12:38] you have a frame that says settlers are [12:40] violent, every incident falls into that. [12:44] And then people are like, well, the [12:45] settlers are violent. The terrorist with [12:47] the knife is now a farmer. a hiker is [12:49] now a trespasser when four Israelis or [12:52] five Israelis are injured in in a [12:54] shooting attack near Hebrron. The story [12:56] is set so that when the when the [12:58] terrorists are neutralized, that's the [13:00] story in the CBC. [13:05] Rigav titled their report a modern blood [13:08] liel. You can go to their website at the [13:09] Rigavim website and download it. The [13:12] modern blood liel. It's a strong phrase, [13:15] but it's actually it's it's it's a good [13:17] it's a good phrase. [13:20] It's a blood liel repeated until it [13:22] becomes the prevailing wisdom, the [13:25] common knowledge, settler violence. [13:28] You know, the Torah warns us about this [13:30] in Sephod in the book of Exodus chapter [13:32] 23. You shall not carry a false report. [13:35] Do not join hands with the wicked to be [13:37] a malicious witness. You shall not [13:40] follow the many to do evil. Look at the [13:42] progression in the verse. First the [13:44] false report, then the malicious [13:45] witness, then the warning about [13:47] following the many and doing evil. [13:50] That's the way it works. [13:53] That's what this database, the OCHA [13:55] database is. It's a false report [13:57] repeated by the many. So, next time you [13:59] hear the phrase settler violence, and [14:01] you'll you'll hear it all the time, ask [14:04] yourself what's in the number. And [14:06] remember all the data that I told you [14:08] here. And now I want to end this video. [14:10] I want to show you a clip of a of a [14:12] video that was put out uh an excerpt of [14:16] a video that was that was put out by the [14:20] Prime Minister's office. Okay. Um [14:25] the Prime Minister Netanyahu's office [14:28] wanted to wanted to deal with this, you [14:31] know, wanted to respond to to this issue [14:34] because there's all these allegations of [14:35] the settler violence that are going [14:37] around everywhere and [14:40] Um, [14:42] and so they made a video about it and [14:44] there's some there's some excellent [14:45] people working in the prime minister's [14:47] office and Duron Spielman is one of is [14:49] one of Netanyahu's spokespeople [14:53] and he made this video and I think he [14:55] did an outstanding job. I'm going to put [14:57] the video I'm going to put a link to [14:59] this video from the prime minister's [15:00] office in as the pinned uh comment to [15:04] this video. You should watch the whole [15:06] thing. Some of the data in this video is [15:08] the same as the data that I've shared [15:10] with you, but he shares a lot more and a [15:12] lot more background information, but he [15:14] also included a fascinating uh anecdote [15:19] where he went out on location and [15:21] interviewed a couple. I want to share [15:23] this with you right now. [15:28] Here we go. Oops. [15:31] Let's pull it up. It is right here. I [15:34] went into the field and met two people, [15:36] David and Rachel Stern. These are two [15:39] people that Ocha puts in the reports and [15:42] wants us to think of as violent [15:44] settlers. This is a real event. Let's [15:47] take a look. [15:50] We're back in Kawara. Take me back to [15:52] your experience here. What happened on [15:55] that day when Dave was driving [16:01] >> three and a half years ago, March 19th, [16:03] we were driving through through Hawara. [16:05] It was a rainy day. [16:07] >> We enter the village, Hawara. As we [16:10] approach the traffic circle, we both [16:12] notice there's a man standing wearing a [16:15] black hoodie that he is hiding one of [16:19] his hands. [16:20] >> I said to Dave, "Why is he hiding his [16:22] hand?" Dave didn't have a chance to [16:24] answer. The terrorist, now we know he [16:27] was the terrorist, turns towards the [16:29] car, looks at us with a very, very like [16:33] hateful look and immediately pulls out a [16:38] weapon. [16:39] >> The moment I see the gun, I also draw my [16:41] pistol. And he opened fire. He was about [16:44] 1 meter in front of the car. He was [16:45] extremely close. His first bullets hit [16:48] me. I was hit with two bullets in my [16:49] right arm. One bullet came as I turned [16:52] to draw my pistol through my shoulder [16:54] into my chest. One bullet hit me in the [16:56] head. [17:02] >> I stopped breathing from stress and I [17:04] thought to myself, I'm never going to [17:06] see my kids again. And then I realized, [17:07] oh my god, my kids are going to be [17:09] orphaned of both of their parents. I [17:12] fired through the front windshield uh at [17:14] him and I hit him in the chest and the [17:17] shoulders and one of my bullets hit him [17:18] in the hand and the gun fell out of his [17:19] hand. [17:21] >> I look at Dave and I just like my heart [17:24] stopped because he had blood spraying [17:27] from his forehead [17:29] from the middle of his forehead to the [17:31] mirror and and he just it looked like he [17:35] was riddled with bullet with bullet [17:37] wounds and I just screamed out in [17:39] Hebrew, "My husband is injured. He has a [17:41] bullet in his head. It's in his head. [17:43] And [17:44] >> at this point, many many residents of [17:46] the village, about 40, 30 to 40 people [17:49] from the village came out and they were [17:51] surrounding the vehicle and they were [17:53] filming us. [17:54] >> They were laughing at us. [17:55] >> They weren't offering help. They were [17:56] laughing. [17:56] >> They were laughing at us. They were [17:58] whistling at us and they were filming [18:00] us. They had their phones out. Why is [18:02] nobody coming to help us? We were just [18:04] waiting basically. Every second felt [18:08] like uh like an hour. [18:11] Did you know that the bullets you fired [18:14] to protect yourself against that [18:16] terrorist, specifically that event is [18:18] recorded in the United Nations, is a [18:20] Jewish settler attack against innocent [18:23] Palestinians? [18:25] It's unbelievable. It's despicable. It's [18:27] a complete inversion of reality. [18:29] >> Would they have preferred that Dave not [18:31] react, that we get killed, that we get [18:34] shot? Maybe. Maybe. That's a question. [18:38] Why they're choosing to lie about this? [18:40] That's that's my question. [18:41] >> What we just saw happen. [18:45] >> All right. There you go. Um, and you [18:48] should watch the full video. It's an [18:50] excellent It's a very well done video. [18:51] I'm also happy to see the prime [18:52] minister's office putting out excellent [18:54] material like this. But you see that [18:55] story, they defended themselves against [18:58] a terrorist attack. And in the process [18:59] of defending themselves, that guy Dave [19:02] shot the terrorist. And that exact [19:04] incident, that incident is recorded in [19:08] the OCHA database as an act of settler [19:10] violence. [19:12] Again, there is some settler violence, [19:14] but understand the magnitude of the Arab [19:18] violence against Jews is is just many [19:22] many times more, hundreds of times more [19:25] than any acts of violence going in the [19:27] other direction. [19:29] And the vast majority of the uh almost [19:32] all of the violence in the other [19:36] direction is in self-defense. [19:39] And this is a very carefully calculated [19:43] campaign. They bring reporters, they [19:45] bring photographers, they bring [19:46] videographers out there, they provoke, [19:50] and then they film the part where [19:51] there's retaliation. This happens all [19:53] the time. We have to be on our guard and [19:56] we have to stand for the truth. Please [19:58] share this video widely [20:00] and do your own research for yourself. [20:02] If you want, drop a comment if you have [20:04] something else to say, you want to know [20:05] more about this. Let me know what you [20:06] think about this. And please, please [20:08] share this video. God bless.
