Transcript [00:00] This last Wednesday, flight FC1073 [00:03] took off from Dubai on a routine flight [00:06] to Tel Aviv. The plane was being flown [00:08] by Indian pilot Captain Schmidt Machar [00:11] with a Muslim co-pilot from Dubai. On [00:15] board were 166 Israelis and eight people [00:18] from other countries on their way to [00:21] visit Israel. As the flight neared [00:23] Israeli airspace, a passenger who was [00:26] waiting for her daughter in the bathroom [00:27] near the front of the plane happened to [00:29] hear strange sounds coming from the [00:32] cockpit. She yelled back to alert her [00:34] husband's Vika, who started moving [00:36] toward her in response with another [00:38] Israeli named Assaf to see what was [00:40] happening. As they approached the front [00:42] of the plane without warning, the [00:44] aircraft slid into an almost vertical [00:46] dive. It dropped over 15,000 ft in under [00:50] 60 seconds. Somehow both Israelis kept [00:53] moving toward the cockpit. Suddenly the [00:56] cockpit door opened and the Israelis [00:59] were greeted with two things. The Indian [01:01] pilot was slumped against the door [01:03] unconscious. He had been stabbed and had [01:06] managed to pull the handle on the door [01:08] before passing out. The other thing they [01:10] were greeted with were the screams of [01:12] the co-pilot. He was leaning over the [01:14] aircraft controls, smashing them [01:17] furiously, yelling alawakbar. Without [01:19] hesitation, both Svika and Assaf managed [01:21] to push the door open, sliding the [01:23] injured pilot out of the way. Yaniv [01:26] rushed the cockpit, grabbing the [01:27] co-pilot from behind in a chokeold, and [01:29] he was quickly joined by Tvika. They [01:32] managed to subdue the co-pilot, thank [01:35] God, and tie him up with headphone wire, [01:37] but they didn't have a second to lose. [01:39] The plane was still in an almost [01:41] vertical dive. They were going so fast [01:44] at this point with so much drag on the [01:46] frame of the aircraft that multiple [01:48] experts have commented that it's a [01:49] miracle that the plane didn't destruct. [01:52] As it was, the rudder went to pieces, [01:54] but the rest of the plane was still [01:56] functional. As soon as the co-pilot was [01:58] tied up, Yaniv crawled into the cockpit, [02:00] grabbed the yolk, and pulled the plane [02:02] out of the dive, leveling it off. He [02:06] later commented that he knew exactly how [02:07] to do this because of a TV show he had [02:09] just been watching about airline [02:11] disasters. But even though the plane [02:14] leveled out, they were now in the [02:15] cockpit with an unconscious pilot who [02:17] was quickly bleeding out. A tied up [02:19] terrorist co-pilot who was begging for [02:20] the Israelis to kill him and a civilian [02:23] behind the controls. They didn't know [02:25] how big this terrorist plot was and who [02:27] else could be involved. Quickly, they [02:30] put out an announcement asking for other [02:32] pilots on board to help out. And thank [02:34] God there actually were a team of pilots [02:36] on board. Another flight crew from the [02:38] same airline who were making transit. [02:41] One of the pilots was able to quickly [02:43] come up and take control of the plane. [02:45] The other one reportedly remained in [02:47] shock for somewhere around 10 minutes [02:48] before he was able to snap out of it and [02:50] begin helping as well. An Israeli [02:54] dentist, who was also on board, was able [02:56] to come up to the cockpit and begin [02:58] administering lifesaving first aid to [03:00] the injured pilot. But they still didn't [03:03] know how deep this plot went. The [03:05] Israeli passengers had to organize. This [03:08] is a video taken from that moment. [03:31] In a second, we'll get into the rest of [03:33] the details of this crazy story and what [03:35] followed. But first, this patch we have [03:37] right here pairs the silhouette of the [03:39] temple in Jerusalem with the Hebrew word [03:41] for Messiah, Messiah, a way to carry a [03:44] piece of Jerusalem and your faith with [03:47] you wherever you go. It's also become [03:49] extremely popular with IDF soldiers [03:51] since October 7th. This is a durable [03:54] embroidered patch that velcros right [03:56] onto a jacket, backpack, or hat. It's [03:59] sitting at 4.8 out of five stars from [04:01] hundreds of reviews. One of the best [04:03] rated things in our entire store. And [04:06] like everything in our store, all the [04:08] proceeds go straight to our volunteer [04:09] work on the ground in Israel. Get yours. So [04:17] somewhere in the course of this [04:19] struggle, a distress signal was sent [04:21] from the cockpit of the plane letting [04:23] authorities know that a hijacking had [04:25] happened. Also, Israelis were told off [04:28] to guard flight attendants and the [04:29] chance that some of them were in on the [04:31] plot because they didn't know how big [04:32] this terrorist plot actually was. In [04:35] response to receiving the distress [04:36] signal, uh, several Israeli fighter jets [04:39] were quickly dispatched to Saudi Arabia [04:41] and they moved in to escort the plane in [04:43] case the terrorist was planning a 9/11 [04:45] style ramming attack in Israel. Also, a [04:49] second flight in route from Dubai to Tel [04:51] Aviv was turned around by Israeli [04:53] authorities and the off chance that [04:55] there were other attacks planned. [04:57] Meanwhile, back in the cockpit, the [04:59] backup pilots were able to turn the [05:01] plane around and request a landing at [05:03] the airport in Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. [05:06] And thankfully, 77 minutes after the [05:08] first distress signal was sent from the [05:10] plane, a safe landing was made. This is [05:13] what that moment looked like. [05:24] I cannot imagine the overwhelming [05:26] feeling of relief for these passengers [05:27] to finally land after what they just [05:30] went through. Several of the passengers [05:31] said that they really had no idea what [05:33] was going to happen until the plane [05:34] touched down in Saudi Arabia. Just as a [05:37] reminder, this is a picture of what the [05:38] tail of the plane looked like. The [05:40] rudder of the plane actually just [05:42] completely went to pieces when they did [05:44] that extreme vertical dive. And [05:47] honestly, it was a miracle that they [05:49] made it at all. How did an alert Israeli [05:51] just happen to be waiting for the [05:52] bathroom at the front of the plane and [05:54] hear the commotion in the cockpit? How [05:56] did the pilot manage to open the door [05:58] right before he passed out? How did [06:00] Yaniv and Spika manage to get the [06:02] terrorists before he completely [06:03] destroyed the controls? And how did [06:05] Yaniv just so happen to know how to [06:07] level out the plane? And how did there [06:09] happen to be other pilots on board who [06:10] were able to take over? And how after [06:13] all of that did the plane not break [06:14] apart under the extreme conditions of [06:16] the dive? Again, according to initial [06:19] reports, the plane dropped over 15,000 [06:22] ft in just under a minute. A terrifying [06:24] plunge for everyone on board. The [06:28] internet is quickly jumping to [06:30] conspiracy theories, saying this was a [06:32] false flag operation by the Mossad, and [06:34] that's the only reason things worked out [06:35] the way they did, which of course is [06:37] idiotic for a number of reasons. We as [06:40] believers in the Bible, we know the [06:42] truth. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and [06:45] Jacob is watching over Israel. And just [06:47] this week, in the middle of the biblical [06:49] holiday of Sukkot, he worked an [06:51] incredible miracle. After the plane [06:54] landed, Israel requested the option of [06:56] sending Israeli rescue flights to Saudi [06:59] Arabia to pick up the passengers [07:01] directly. The Saudis refused, insisting [07:03] that the Israelis wait for another Fly [07:06] Dubai flight to come pick them up, which [07:08] they eventually did. [07:11] >> You can see this video of the Israeli [07:12] heroes who took over the cockpit meeting [07:15] with BB Nao upon their arrival. [07:21] Israel's president Herzog told the four [07:23] main Israelis involved that he plans to [07:26] present their actions to the advisory [07:28] committee for the presidential medal for [07:31] civilian heroism and he is recommending [07:33] the award which of course they very much [07:36] deserve. So this is a terrifying and [07:39] amazing story. God is not done with his [07:42] people and he has amazing things in [07:44] store for them and the days of miracles [07:47] aren't over. And it's a beautiful thing [07:49] to see a miracle like this happening in [07:51] our days, especially in the middle of [07:53] the joyous season of Sukkot. Guys, don't [07:57] forget to pick up a Temple Messiah [07:58] patch. You can scan the QR code or click [08:01] the link in the description. This last Wednesday on October 30th, flight FZ1073 took off from Dubai, on a routine flight to Tel Aviv. The plane was being flown by Indian pilot captain Smit Machchhar, with a Muslim Co-pilot from Dubai. On board were 166 Israelis, and 8 people from other countries, on their way to visit Israel.
No one could have anticipated the dramatic events that unfolded in the time span of just a few short minutes. This may be one of the most dramatic close calls in aviation history, and many are claiming it was a miracle that the flight didn’t end in disaster. Ben Hilton breaks it all down for you on today’s video.
