Transcript [00:00] Oh, am I on a talk show? [00:01] >> No. [00:02] >> Oh, I love this. [00:03] >> Do you want to be on a talk show? [00:05] >> If you want to put me on a talk show, I [00:07] would love to be on a show. [00:08] >> Oh, you seem nice. I like you. You got a [00:09] good vibe about you. [00:11] >> Yeah, absolutely. [00:12] >> How are you? Where are you from, buddy? [00:14] >> I'm good. I'm from uh my mother's [00:16] Algerian and my father is Palestinian. [00:18] >> Wow. Mashallah. What a mix. [00:21] >> Right. [00:22] >> Amazing. Where in Palestine is your [00:24] father you said it from? [00:25] >> Uh yeah, Jerusalem. [00:27] >> Wow. My holy brother. I love it. That's [00:30] awesome, man. [00:31] >> How are you doing? [00:32] >> I'm Alhamdulillah, brother. I'm doing [00:33] fantastic. [00:35] >> I'm even better now that I'm speaking to [00:36] you. [00:37] >> Uh I'm from I'm from Israel. [00:39] >> You're Israeli? [00:41] >> Oh, shalom. [00:42] >> Shalom. [00:45] [laughter] [00:47] >> Yeah. I'm I'm assuming you've had some [00:49] positive experiences with Israelis on [00:51] here. You seem like you [00:52] >> uh No, I've had some positive uh [00:55] experiences in Jerusalem with Israelis. [00:58] Ah wow. What? Like how what kind of [01:01] >> um uh you know have you been to [01:03] Jerusalem? [01:04] >> Of course. I go there like twice, three [01:05] times a week. [01:06] >> So So you know you know how it is. [01:08] Everybody is very peaceful in Jerusalem. [01:10] Everybody is very co coexisting [01:14] but [01:16] other places it's a little different you [01:17] know. [01:18] >> Have you faced discrimination in Israel? [01:20] >> Um I have. I have. Within Israel I have. [01:25] Um, like [01:26] >> is it something you feel comfortable [01:27] talking about? You don't have to if you [01:28] don't want to. I'd love to hear like [01:30] >> trying to drive so trying to drive like [01:32] from Jerusalem to Yafa or trying to [01:34] drive to Tel Aviv or to any any other [01:38] city like having an Arabic last name. [01:41] >> I have faced like extreme discrimination [01:43] at checkpoints because I have a very [01:45] Arab last name. [01:48] So, it's it's a little difficult, but I [01:52] mean, you know, to it's it's I feel like [01:55] within within Israel specifically, it's [01:57] it's like uh whoever you get, you know, [02:00] it's a wild card. [02:01] >> Yeah. [02:02] >> Right. It's like it's whoever whoever is [02:05] is manning the checkpoint. [02:06] >> Yeah. [02:07] >> And their beliefs, right? [02:10] So, [02:11] >> yeah. And and you understand obviously [02:12] like the context behind obviously [02:14] discrimination is never justified, but [02:16] you understand like the context behind [02:18] why [02:21] >> Yeah. [02:22] I mean it it goes both. I feel like I [02:24] really genuinely believe I think it goes [02:26] both ways. [02:28] I think the it's a it's a two-sided [02:30] issue. It's a double-sided probe, right? [02:33] Both parties can can poke each other. [02:36] >> Sure. I would I would agree with that. [02:38] So, I mean, [02:41] I'm I'm so pro peace that I don't I [02:44] don't like to play that card. [02:45] >> That's nice. That's very nice. [02:47] >> I I genuinely call for peace for [02:49] everyone. [02:50] >> That's amazing. [02:51] >> Peace for everyone. [02:52] >> Are you Israeli? You hold Israeli [02:54] citizenship? [02:55] >> I don't. I don't. [02:56] >> Okay. So, when you guys come to [02:57] Palestine, you have to go via Aman. [02:59] Like, you go through Jordan and then [03:01] drive in? [03:01] >> Yeah. [03:02] >> Okay. Yeah. [03:02] >> I see. I see. [03:03] >> Yeah. [03:04] >> Yeah, man. I I I'm with you. I'm [03:06] American so I can fly I can fly into Tel [03:08] Aviv. [03:08] >> Ah right, right. Okay. [03:10] >> So I mean usually usually we do go that [03:12] route because we have some family in [03:14] like Aman and we can go that route but [03:17] at the same time I mean [03:20] we usually will like stop in Am you know [03:23] visit my father's side of the family and [03:26] a lot of them are in right now because [03:29] I'm sure you know Palestinian dias and [03:33] there's Palestinians all over the world. [03:35] Yeah. [03:36] >> Right. [03:36] >> Let me ask you this. I'm curious because [03:38] it's rare it's rare that I get a often a [03:41] chance to speak to a Palestinian that's [03:44] so pro peace. Like usually when most [03:46] times when I speak to Palestinians on [03:48] here, they're usually pretty either [03:50] anti- peace or like so so nationalistic [03:54] that Israel can't really coexist in [03:56] their mind. It's it happens sometimes. [03:58] And then whenever I I I'd love to take [03:59] an opportunity to get like what's your [04:02] uh vision for the future? Your desire [04:04] for the future? Like where would you [04:05] like to see us go? [04:06] >> Uh my desire for the future is first of [04:09] all be out of power. [04:11] >> Sure. Okay. [04:13] >> That's I think that's the first step [04:15] towards peace. [04:17] Absolutely. I think he's been the [04:19] shittiest prime minister that Israel's [04:22] ever seen. Um, I don't think he wants I [04:24] don't think he wants a a a peaceful [04:28] coexistence. I think he wants [04:30] totalitarianism. [04:31] >> You mean with Arabs or with Palestinians [04:33] specifically? [04:34] >> I think I think for everybody in [04:35] general, like for the Drews, for the [04:37] Christians, for the Arabs, for everyone. [04:39] >> The Abraham Accords kind of contradicts [04:41] that a little bit though. No. [04:43] >> Uh, [laughter] I listen, you know what? [04:46] Just to play devil's advocate, I'm not [04:48] the biggest fan of BB, but like [04:50] >> absolutely [04:50] >> it does kind of contradict that. That's [04:52] your That's your opinion. [04:53] >> It's my opinion. [04:54] >> My Listen, my my opinion is that [04:56] everybody [04:57] >> deserves to live their life and deserves [05:00] the right to water, deserves the right [05:02] to food, deserves the right to [05:03] electricity, deserves the right to [05:05] shower every morning. I'm I feel so [05:08] blessed that I have the opportunity to [05:10] step into my shower every morning. I I [05:12] have feel so blessed to sleep in my bed [05:15] every night like you don't the amount of [05:18] gratitude I have is [05:21] crazy [05:22] >> that's beautiful [05:24] >> is because you know at the end of the [05:27] day listen all all parts aside no matter [05:30] what the situation may be [05:34] no matter no matter what would take you [05:36] you you what no matter what side you [05:38] live on I think that everybody has the [05:41] right to basic needs. [05:42] >> Okay. I want to make a proposition to [05:44] you. [05:45] >> Hold on. I don't want to hear I don't [05:46] want to hear about Hamas. [05:48] >> No, no, no, no. I want to make I want to [05:50] make a proposition to you [05:51] >> because there's Listen, there's [05:53] civilians. There's There's 1 million [05:55] There's literally what one million uh [05:58] civilians in Gaza. And even if there's, [06:02] okay, two million. Let's say 2.3,000. [06:05] Let's say let's say 1,000 for example. [06:07] >> Those 10,000 people deserve to eat. They [06:10] deserve to drink clean water. They [06:12] deserve to have rice. They deserve to [06:14] have food. They deserve to have clean [06:16] electricity. They deserve to have clean [06:18] water. I mean, [06:20] >> no matter what. [06:22] >> I want to make a proposition to you. And [06:23] I'm not talking about [06:24] >> I'm not I'm not talking about Hamas cuz [06:26] I I know you don't support Hamas. I [06:28] could tell that from the first second. [06:29] >> Uh [06:30] >> well, well, I Well, I didn't say that. [06:32] >> So, don't put words in my mouth. [06:34] >> Okay. [06:34] >> I don't I don't But don't put words in [06:37] my mouth. You know, you can't you can't [06:39] when we're talking politics, you have to [06:41] you have to ask. You have to ask. You [06:43] have to be blunt. [06:44] >> Sure. I just I just assumed by the way [06:46] that you talk in your cadence that you [06:48] your ideology doesn't fit with Hamas [06:49] ideology. [06:50] >> Actually, DV supports Hamas a lot more [06:52] than I supported Hamas. [06:54] >> That's not what I'm talking about. [06:55] >> Hamas a lot more. [06:56] >> That's not what I'm talking about, [06:57] though. I I wasn't I didn't even want to [06:58] bring up Hamas in this conversation [07:00] because I felt like it was so not your [07:02] >> nullified. Nullified felt like it had [07:05] nothing to do with you. And I I don't [07:06] believe Hamas is an issue anymore. I [07:09] think Hamas has been nullified. I think [07:11] Hamas is not a a a [07:15] ruling power in Gaza anymore. [07:17] >> So I want to make as a Palestinian I [07:19] want to make a proposition to you and [07:20] I'm curious your thoughts on it. Tell me [07:21] tell me what you think about this. [07:22] >> Absolutely. Absolutely. [07:24] >> I and this is going to come off maybe as [07:26] a little bit offensive. Just bear with [07:27] me. Let me get through the thought. [07:29] >> I reject the notion of a Palestinian [07:31] state. I like I don't believe in a [07:33] two-state solution. I don't want a [07:35] Palestinian state. What I do though [07:37] believe in is the right of return for [07:39] Palestinians to the land. And I do want [07:41] to coexist and live with Palestinians. [07:43] Like those that's two things that are [07:44] very important to me. My vision for the [07:46] future is I see one unified Israeli [07:49] state where we all live together in [07:51] peace. I don't believe in in that right [07:54] that we can exist under democracy [07:56] because basically the Arab citizens of [07:59] Israel will outnumber the Jews very [08:01] quickly especially if we do a right to [08:03] return and the Jewish state will lose [08:06] its fabric of its Jewishness and it will [08:08] just become another Arab state in the [08:09] Middle East which I don't believe [08:11] there's a moral ethical justification to [08:13] creating another Arab state. Would you [08:15] as a Palestinian, [08:17] if you could express yourself as a [08:19] Palestinian, have your flag, have your [08:21] culture, live in dignity and peace, [08:23] would you accept the idea of living [08:26] under Israel with the Jews in control in [08:29] power? [08:29] >> Well, well, that would that would [08:30] nullify the idea of a Palestinian state? [08:33] I mean, you know, personally, I think [08:36] that the two a two-state solution would [08:38] be the only solution. [08:39] >> But how could we do a two-state [08:41] solution? I I think the only is what [08:44] what is it 60 the 67 um [08:46] >> but those are that's gone. It's that's [08:48] gone already. You can't do it anymore. [08:50] Like there there's there's half a [08:52] million armed settlers in the West Bank [08:54] who and I and I think by the way I think [08:56] it's racist to call them settlers. I [08:58] don't think it's correct to call them a [08:59] settler but [09:01] >> really I think a lot of them are like [09:02] extremist settlers. A lot of them are. [09:05] >> I've actually spent a lot of time with [09:06] them. I'm also a person who's been to [09:08] Ramla and to Nablas and to a bunch of [09:10] refugee camps as a citizen, like as a [09:12] civilian, not as a soldier. I didn't [09:14] serve in the IDF. Um, so I've seen both [09:16] hands of the equation. I actually think [09:17] there's a lot more similarities [09:19] ideologically between the settlers and [09:21] the Palestinian civilians as as as [09:24] opposed to there being uh differences. [09:27] There's way more similarities in [09:28] ideology of God giving us the land and [09:30] God being the one who's guiding us [09:32] rather than the differences. [09:34] >> I've been I so my father [09:36] Mhm. [09:38] >> So, you know, my my you know, [09:42] you know how the game goes. You don't [09:44] have a deed to your house, right? [09:46] Because it's it's been generationally [09:49] passed down. [09:49] >> Correct. It's a tabo. It's Ottoman [09:51] thing, [09:52] >> right? So, you know, back then it was [09:55] anybody could go just buy a house and it [09:58] was generationally passed down. [10:00] >> Yeah. [10:01] nowadays. I mean, if you under Israeli [10:04] rule, if you don't have the deed to your [10:05] house, which Israel controls, [10:09] right, you you you lose your house. And [10:12] especially in my father lost his house, [10:15] you know. [10:16] >> Yeah. [10:17] >> But but you also have to understand like [10:19] from the perspective of a state that's [10:21] trying to organize what was a colonial [10:24] p's efforts to colonize this land, which [10:26] is Ottoman Empire. [10:28] >> Listen, I completely understand that. I [10:30] can I completely understand your your [10:32] perspective and [10:33] >> I also yours by the way. I 100% [10:35] understand where you're coming from. [10:36] >> I'm very listen I'm very politically [10:38] politically correct. I completely [10:40] understand where you're coming from. I I [10:43] don't deny I don't I don't think that it [10:45] would be fair to Palestinians or for [10:48] Palestinians to live under complete [10:50] Israeli rule to for there to be a [10:52] complete Israeli state. And like I said, [10:56] I faced personal discrimination, right, [10:59] just for having an Arab last name, [11:03] you know? I only know how to cuss in [11:04] Hebrew. [11:05] >> But but here's the thing. From the other [11:07] perspective, [11:07] >> drive in Israel. When I drive in Israel, [11:09] it's crazy. [11:11] >> What do you mean? [11:11] >> I only know, [11:14] >> right? When everyone drives Benza, [11:18] >> which proves it proves how Middle [11:19] Eastern we actually are. Everybody [11:20] claims to call us white colonizers. [11:23] extremely extremely but and I'm not I [11:25] don't you know I don't think I deny it I [11:28] think everybody should coexist but I I [11:29] deny the fact of Palestinians you know [11:32] who who hold Israeli passports for [11:34] example who have to hold Israeli [11:37] passports because that's the cities that [11:38] they're from are labeled Arab-Israelis [11:41] you know I deny that I deny that fact I [11:43] think they should be free to to hold the [11:45] title of Palestinian [11:47] >> but so I like this is this is why and I [11:49] have to counteract it because I'm I'm [11:51] curious to hear your thoughts on on this [11:52] genuinely like Palestinians make up 20% [11:57] of Israeli society. Like Arab-Israelis, [11:59] >> right? Okay. Arab Arab Israelis. I mean [12:03] I I call them whatever they want to be [12:04] called. Some of them reject the notion [12:05] of being Palestinian. Like I have my a [12:08] lot of the time they have to be because [12:10] they go to school in it. [12:11] >> My landlord, for example, she's modern [12:12] Israel. [12:13] >> My landlord is Arab-Israeli from Yafa. [12:15] They I spoke to them deeply about this. [12:16] Like we had a very big heart to heart [12:18] about it. [12:18] >> You live in Israel? [12:19] >> I live in Israel. I live in Tel Aviv. [12:20] >> Oh, nice. [12:21] >> Yeah. So they my my landlords reject the [12:24] they don't want to associate with being [12:25] Palestinian bec not because of Israel [12:28] forcing them. [12:28] >> Is he drew? [12:30] >> No. No. They are Christians from Yafa. [12:32] >> Okay. [12:32] >> They they reject being Palestinian [12:34] because they know who they are. Like [12:36] they know that Palestinian [12:39] like brother and this is I'm the last [12:40] person to deny Palestinianism. [12:43] >> Listen. Okay. So hold on. That's a [12:45] prefixed notion. I know exactly what [12:47] you're about to say. Don't deny [12:49] Palestinian nationality. I do not I I am [12:52] a person who takes a stance. I do not [12:53] deny Palestinian nationality as it [12:55] exists today. You can't deny it. It [12:56] exists today. But these people, my [12:59] landlord, they they know their own [13:01] history. They know how long they've been [13:02] in Yafa. They know where they came from. [13:04] They know what they're they know they're [13:06] originally from Nazareth. They reject [13:08] the idea of even in some ways being Arab [13:10] because they know that they're not Arab. [13:12] They know they're Arabized peoples. [13:13] >> So they also reject Palestinianism as [13:17] >> they they don't believe that that's who [13:18] they are. or they believe that they're [13:20] adabs of the land. [13:21] >> Palestinianism is is is there's there's, [13:25] you know, we can argue that the [13:26] Philistines came from Greeks. We can [13:29] argue that that, [13:31] you know, Jesus came from Iraq and and [13:35] came over to Israel. Or [13:37] >> you mean Abraham, not Jesus? [13:40] >> That's what I meant. [13:41] >> Yeah. Abraham was born in Israel, [13:43] >> right? [13:45] >> Or Jesus was born in Israel. Abraham was [13:47] born in Iraq. [13:49] That's what I meant. [13:49] >> Yeah. [13:50] >> Um, [13:52] >> right. And we can say the notion that, [13:55] you know, Moses was born in Egypt and he [13:57] split the Red Sea, right? And he went [13:59] over to modernday Israel and all these [14:03] things, right? But but what's what's the [14:06] point? What's the point of arguing all [14:08] these things when all everybody wants is [14:11] peace, you know? [14:12] >> Well, first of all, not everybody wants [14:14] peace. That's number one. [14:15] >> I I get that. I get that. I get that. [14:17] But if you have that mindset of not [14:19] everybody wants peace, you should have [14:21] the mindset that everybody wants peace. [14:23] >> There's a lot of people who want peace, [14:24] but not everybody wants peace. And those [14:26] those actors, those bad actors, [14:27] >> spread that spread that love, spread [14:29] that spread. [14:31] >> Spread that positivity and hope for the [14:33] best, you know. [14:34] >> So what I see as I live in Washington [14:37] DC, [14:38] >> there's hate crimes here towards white [14:41] people, towards black people, towards [14:43] Asian people. There's xenophobia, [14:46] homophobia, [14:48] um, racism, [14:50] there's we can list them all. I mean, [14:53] you know, there's anti-semitism, there's [14:55] everything. I mean, living here in [14:58] America, I mean, to be honest with you, [15:00] I've seen I've seen, especially on the [15:02] news, living in Washington DC, like [15:06] dude, everybody has a prefixed notion [15:08] about some type of people. [15:12] Genuinely, all you can do is hope for [15:15] peace. And if I personally believe that [15:18] if I spread love, love will come back. [15:21] I'm I'm a huge believer in karma. Karma, [15:24] whatever you put out into the universe [15:25] comes back to you. That's a that is a [15:28] great ideology. I I 100% believe in this [15:30] as well. I also think coupled with that, [15:32] it's important to have rigidity and a [15:35] desire to actually put something on the [15:37] ground that can happen. Like I'm 100% [15:39] with you. I'm all about the kumbaya. I'm [15:41] all about the love. You're talking to [15:43] somebody who's traveled to almost [15:44] >> You don't want a Palestinian state. [15:45] >> Well, that's the thing is and this is [15:47] what I wanted to ask you about it [15:48] because cuz I'm I also again this is [15:51] coming from somebody who has a deep [15:52] appreciation for Palestinians and Arab [15:54] culture. I'm a Misrai Jew. You know, my [15:56] family came from Arabized countries. I [15:58] came from Iraq and Turkey and Iran. I'm [16:01] >> You know what? You you look like my [16:03] first cousin. I'm not going to lie. You [16:04] look actually like my first cousin. His [16:06] name is Amin. You look exactly like him. [16:09] When I when I walk around the [16:10] Palestinian areas, nobody second guesses [16:12] me. I fit right in. Like [16:13] >> you you look more I think I think I look [16:15] more Israeli than you [16:16] >> probably. Yeah, actually definitely. Um [16:20] so the and the reason why I reject the [16:23] notion of a Palestinian state and this [16:24] is I would love to get your thoughts on [16:26] this. [16:26] >> Yes, please. [16:27] >> When I look around the Arab world and [16:30] even Palestinian society and this is [16:32] coming from somebody who deeply studied [16:33] this matter. Yeah. I sat with every [16:36] possible group you could imagine in [16:37] Palestine and in Israel and every [16:39] subgroup of the Palestinian nationality [16:41] and every subgroup of the Israeli [16:43] society to try to understand what brings [16:45] us together and what brings us apart. I [16:46] traveled the land like over the course [16:48] of years to get to this point. I see [16:51] deep deep deep division not just in the [16:55] Arab world but deep division in [16:56] Palestinian society. Like for example [16:59] the Arabs of Alutz and the Arabs of Yafa [17:01] hate each other. the Christians of Yafa [17:03] and the and the Muslims of Yafa having [17:06] gunfights every night. I live in Yafa [17:07] and I hear it. It's not Muslims against [17:09] Jews. It's not Arabs against Jews. [17:11] >> Like, but there's Listen, [17:12] >> wait, hold on. Let me finish my thought. [17:13] Let me finish my thought. [17:14] >> I'm going to cut you off. I can't I [17:16] can't listen. There's a large schism, [17:18] but that does not that does not deny [17:21] people to have peace. [17:22] >> Wait, I didn't say anything about this. [17:24] I didn't say anything about this. [17:25] >> Well Well, I'm I'm going to nullify your [17:27] argument because I know exactly where [17:28] you're going. I understand your I [17:30] understand your standpoint, but I'm [17:32] gonna I'm gonna shift the conversation. [17:33] Right. [17:33] >> Wait, how? Let me finish my thought real [17:35] quick. Let me let me flush this out real [17:36] quick because I need to hear your [17:37] thoughts on this. [17:38] >> Go ahead. [17:39] >> I you know I see how bedwin groups we [17:41] have three recognized bedwin groups. The [17:43] north, the negative, and the West Bank [17:45] all hate each other, all fight with each [17:47] other. The the Drews, some even some [17:49] Jews identify as Israeli, some Jews [17:51] identify Assyrian. like the complexity [17:53] of identity in this land is so not [17:56] >> well the golden heights are a complete [17:58] different argument [17:59] >> but again there there's so there's such [18:02] a lack of cohesiveness between [18:03] Palestinian identity or Arab identity in [18:05] this land period and then you bring in [18:07] the Afrobedins the Afroazins the Domaris [18:09] from Jerusalem and east and and the West [18:11] Bank and it it comp it it makes [18:14] everything very complex now when I look [18:16] at the region at large I see there are [18:19] Assyrians and Mandians and Cops and [18:21] Kurdish [18:22] so many ethnic minorities that are [18:24] pinned down from the Arab supremacist uh [18:28] standpoint and seen as secondass [18:29] citizens. They're oppressed. They're [18:31] going extinct basically in the Middle [18:33] East. How can we possibly justify in any [18:36] context creating a 23rd Arab state and a [18:41] 53rd Islamic supremacist state, which we [18:44] know that Palestine will be no matter [18:45] how we try to push it, it's not going to [18:47] be a democratic state. It's not going to [18:49] be a non-Arab or a non-Muslim state. How [18:52] could we as Middle Easterners justify [18:54] the creation of another, it's a 53rd [18:57] Arab state and a second a 22nd Arab [19:01] ethno state in the face of all the [19:03] ethnic minorities in the Middle East [19:04] that are being persecuted right now. [19:05] It's like I feel like it's the biggest [19:07] [ __ ] you in the world to every ethnic [19:09] minority in the Middle East that is [19:11] suffering at the hands of the Arabs [19:12] right now. So, I'm curious to hear your [19:14] thoughts on this. [19:18] I'm sorry if [snorts] I bored you. [19:19] >> No, no, no. I'm sorry. No, it's actually [19:21] like um 6:25 a.m. here and I haven't [19:26] slept, so I'm a little tired. My [19:29] apologies. You're not boring me. [19:31] >> No worries. [19:31] >> But [19:33] >> I think the the biggest issue in the [19:36] Middle East is that Arabs are the Arabs [19:38] worst haters. [19:39] >> Yep. [19:39] >> Right. I agree. [19:40] >> There's no cohesiveness. And I agree [19:42] with that. [19:43] >> There's there's no cohesiveness. Arabs [19:45] hate Arabs, right? I agree with that [19:48] completely. However, [19:52] I mean, look at look at what's happening [19:55] in Gaza. Can can I can I sit there and [19:58] say that that that [20:01] Palestinians can peacefully live under [20:03] Israeli rule as as Israeli citizens? I [20:08] don't believe so. [20:09] >> But there are two million who do. [20:11] >> There's two million that do. Look at [20:13] that. [20:13] >> Gaza is not part of Israel anymore. We [20:15] We gave up Gaza. We They're not [20:17] >> Yeah, I know. In 2003. Absolutely. [20:19] >> 2005. [20:21] >> Oh, 2005. Excuse my technicality. [20:23] >> It's okay. [20:24] >> Um [20:26] I I don't think that's okay. And if we [20:29] if we take a look at the history, for [20:31] example, [20:35] who's at the hand of of the fund of the [20:38] funding of Hamas? [20:41] >> Okay. again while Israel funded Hamas [20:44] for a certain period of time. [20:45] >> Hold on. Hold on. We're No, we will get [20:47] into the Hamas statement. Who's at the [20:49] who's at the the forefront of the [20:51] funding of Hamas and the separation [20:54] between the West Bank, the PLO power in [20:57] the West Bank and between Gaza? Who's at [21:00] the who's at the [21:00] >> But this is a total deflection from what [21:02] I was asking about. Like you're just [21:04] you're completely deflecting about [21:06] >> Sorry, I'm I'm not going to lie. I'm I'm [21:08] a little I'm a little tipsy. So, [21:09] >> okay, no worries. So here's here's the [21:11] the question is where and I've asked [21:13] >> I've asked thousands of people this [21:14] question. I've never got an answer that [21:15] sits right with me. Where's the [21:17] justification? [21:19] >> Where's the justification the the moral [21:21] or ethical justification to creating a [21:24] 23rd Arab ethnostate or a 53rd Muslim [21:27] supremacist state in the Middle East [21:29] which is what Palestine would be. We [21:31] know Palestine would not be a place a [21:33] hub of diversity. It would not be a [21:35] place [21:35] >> you know. Well, I'm going to cut you [21:37] off. You know what I think would be the [21:39] most beautiful outcome? [21:42] >> This is another deflection. [21:44] >> No. No. Because I don't I don't think [21:46] either I don't think there should be I [21:48] don't think there should be a a Jewish [21:51] state and I don't think there should be [21:52] a Muslim state. I don't think that any [21:54] any [21:55] >> but there's already 53. So you have to [21:57] have one separation of the church. I [21:58] live I come I was born listen I was born [22:01] in a country that separation from the [22:03] church was the thing that I was born [22:05] into. Freedom of religion is a thing in [22:07] the country that I'm born in. So I I I [22:10] live by those values. [22:11] >> Fantastic. So you believe in Israel's [22:13] values as well. [22:14] >> No. So I believe in So I believe in [22:16] honestly like if uh you know like you [22:20] know um like a third if a third party [22:23] state could come in and just [22:26] >> But why why are there allowed to be 53 [22:28] Muslim states and 22 Arab ethnostates [22:30] and there can't be one? Well, well, but [22:32] you know, I mean, this is this is the [22:34] holy land we're talking about, right? [22:36] Everybody wants it. The Christians want [22:38] it. The Muslims want it. [22:40] >> It doesn't matter. It's a deflection [22:41] from the point. I haven't still haven't [22:43] heard a justification to creating [22:44] >> Palestine. My Well, I'm telling you this [22:47] not it's not a deflection. I'm telling [22:48] you my honest opinion, my honest opinion [22:51] is that I don't think anybody, any one [22:55] religion, any one state, any one group [22:58] should have rule over it because there's [23:01] historically been problem after problem [23:04] after problem. I think that there should [23:06] be a neutral state, a agnostic state [23:09] where people can practice their own [23:11] religions. If if you know, honestly, if [23:13] it was me, if I wasn't at Yahoo, you [23:16] know what, guys? Whoever wants to do [23:19] whatever can do whatever. You know what? [23:21] Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, [23:23] freedom of of of practice. [23:25] >> But you have that in Israel today. [23:28] It's not H I mean it is true. [23:31] >> Well, it's [23:32] >> it's not perfect. I'm not going to [23:33] pretend to you it's perfect. [23:34] >> It's not perfect because we have I've [23:37] experienced I've as as my father's [23:39] Palestinian every time I go visit my [23:41] father's family in Jerusalem. Every time [23:44] I try to go I love Tel Aviv. I've been [23:46] to Tel Aviv twice in my life. [23:49] Beautiful city. Beautiful. One of my [23:52] favorite cities in the world. Kau, [23:55] [laughter] I'm a boss. [23:56] >> I love you, man. I love you so much. [23:59] >> You're great. [24:00] >> But [laughter] but but that but but [24:02] seriously seriously I don't think that [24:05] one one party can rule because there's [24:08] extremists on both sides. [24:09] >> But so you wouldn't advocate for the [24:11] dismantlement of let's say the Saudi [24:13] state as a Muslim state. [24:16] >> You know what? Whatever the I don't I'm [24:19] so anti-Saudis. [24:21] I don't think that they're good people. [24:23] >> What about Jordan? Like could we [24:25] advocate for Jordan to not be Muslim [24:26] because Christians and Jews live there [24:27] also. [24:28] >> Absol absolutely. I think every country [24:30] deserves I think freedom of religion and [24:32] freedom of of speech. [24:34] >> So I'm with you if if you agree to me [24:37] >> are two major practices that I grew up [24:40] experiencing. If I wanted to go out and [24:43] and you know [ __ ] worship Satan [24:46] tomorrow in America, I can do that. [24:48] >> Yeah. Okay. So I I will come to I will [24:51] >> if I wanted to walk outside of my house [24:53] and say hail Satan 45 times for 30 hours [24:57] it could do that and I think that's fair [25:01] but you know what and the state of [25:03] Israel I don't I don't deny a Jewish [25:05] state it's not it's not a matter of if [25:07] the state is Jewish or if the state is [25:09] Muslim or or this that and the third. [25:11] I've been to Dubai. I've never [25:13] experienced an issue. I've been to [25:15] Dubai. I can go to Dubai. I can I can, [25:17] you know, [ __ ] be shirtless. I can [25:21] do whatever I want. It's they're very [25:24] very liberal. [25:25] >> So, I will come to I will come to the [25:27] Americans. [25:28] >> I will come to an agreement with you on [25:31] on this. And I think this is probably [25:33] somewhere we see eye to eye and I don't [25:35] believe in this, but I'll come to an [25:36] agreement with you on it. If you and I [25:38] could hold hands together and go around [25:40] dismantling in the Middle East the [25:42] framework of all Muslim states and all [25:44] Arab ethnostates, I would be happy to do [25:46] it in Israel as well. If the whole [25:48] region were to become neutral, I'm with [25:51] you. But if we if we single out Israel [25:53] as the only country that can't be [25:56] uh theology or have a ethnic uh uh [26:00] hierarchy, then I see that as a fallacy. [26:04] But if we do it together, hand in hand, [26:06] we go to Jordan, we go to Syria, we go [26:07] to Lebanon, we go to Egypt, we say no [26:09] more Islam. No, not at the forefront. No [26:11] more Arab at the forefront. [26:12] >> There's corruption. There's corruption [26:14] in every country. There's corruption in [26:16] America. There's corruption in Canada. [26:18] Look at Justin Trudeau. [26:21] He was such a [ __ ] prime minister. [26:22] >> All right. I feel like we're losing the [26:23] plot a little bit. Anyways, I I got to [26:24] go. [26:25] >> No, we're not. We're not, though. [26:27] >> I do have to go. I have to use a little [26:29] lift. [26:30] >> No, you look fantastic, brother. What's [26:32] your name? [26:33] My name's Louie. [26:34] >> Louie. Charaf now. Louie. It was very [26:36] nice to meet you, man. This was a very, [26:37] very fruitful conversation. This is two [26:39] Middle Eastern brothers making peace, [26:40] and I appreciate it so much. Much love [26:42] to you, Louis. [26:43] >> Wait, where can I follow you? [26:44] >> Here, I'm going to send you my name. [26:47] The clip will probably be out later this [26:49] week. This was a fantastic, fantastic [26:51] conversation. [26:52] >> Yo, chat, clip it. [26:54] >> Love you, Louie. See you. [26:56] >> Take care. [26:56] >> Bye-bye, buddy. What a nice guy. Still a [26:59] complete deflection. I never got an [27:00] answer to the question. Yeah. And and I [27:02] by the way I have never gotten one [27:04] single normal answer to this question. [27:06] It's like my ultimate question that I [27:08] ask people. Where's the justification to [27:10] creating a 22nd Arab state in a 53rd [27:13] Islamic supremacist state in the Middle [27:15] East? No one's been able to answer the [27:16] question. And we know that's what [27:17] Palestine would be. If you can't answer [27:19] in the comments below. See you guys in [27:20] the next one. Love you a long time. [27:21] Goodbye class.
