Political violence has become the new normal

On Friday, my Congressional office received an envelope containing a suspicious substance, alongside dozens of other Congressional offices nationwide. Thankfully, the substance was non-hazardous, but there's real reason for worry when this happens. The threat of political violence has become a new normal in America. I was sworn into office just three days before the January 6th attacks in 2021. President Trump has legitimized political violence with his support for the insurrectionists. It's time for leaders in both parties to push to lower the temperature and call on everyone to stop making threats against elected officials.
