Progressives and Islamists don’t have much in common aside from hating America. Progressives believe in sexual freedom. Islamists believe women should be controlled. Progressives support LGBTQ rights. Islamists throw gay people off of roofs. I learned this from Iran, where leftists and students marched alongside the Islamists to bring down the Shah. They thought they were partners in a revolution. Once the Islamists had power, those same leftists were imprisoned, executed, or driven into exile. By the time you realize the alliance was never real, you’ve already lost your country.
