The day of the Teruah, which [00:33] is the blow a blast, a sound. [00:36] >> Yeah. [00:36] >> You know, we're called to do this on a [00:38] daily basis. We're called [music] to [00:39] renew our minds. [00:41] >> Yeah. [00:41] >> Right, to search our hearts. But when [00:43] you have appointed days where this is [00:45] kind of mandatory for everyone, [music] [00:47] I think it's a great thing. [00:48] >> The the dead in Christ and the Messiah [00:50] will rise at the sounding of the [00:52] trumpet. [music] [00:53] >> many people believe that uh [00:56] the Messiah will return on Rosh Hashanah [00:59] and it's very valid. Discover [music] [01:01] how understanding the Jewish roots of [01:03] your faith can transform your life and [01:06] the way you read the Bible. [01:13] Shalom and welcome to Jewish Voice where [01:15] we explore the rich heritage of the [01:17] Jewish faith and its fulfillment in [01:20] Yeshua Jesus the Messiah. [01:23] I'm Rabbi Jonathan Bernis and I'm joined [01:24] today by my dear friend and co-host [01:27] Scott Volk. [01:28] >> So good to be here with you Jonathan. [01:31] Today we're turning our hearts towards [01:33] one of the most sacred and beautiful [01:35] times on the Jewish calendar, Rosh [01:38] Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. [01:41] This is a time of hope, reflection, and [01:44] renewal. Together we'll uncover Rosh [01:46] Hashanah's biblical roots as the Feast [01:49] of Trumpets and its powerful message for [01:52] believers in Yeshua. And what an amazing [01:55] time of year this is. [01:56] >> Yeah, it's it it it's actually one of [01:57] the high holidays where uh [02:01] the synagogues, the temples that have [02:04] been relatively empty through the year [02:07] fills up to capacity. This is one of the [02:09] holidays uh [02:12] some of my friends and I I would put [02:14] myself in a similar category that we [02:15] were festival Jews. [02:17] >> Right. [02:17] >> Meaning that [02:18] that we went to temple predominantly on [02:21] the high holidays. [02:22] >> Yeah. [02:22] >> But my father ran the sound system which [02:24] consisted back in the 1960s and early [02:28] 70s of three buttons on the wall and I [02:30] would go and accompany him to Shabbat [02:32] services and there would be 30 people [02:34] compared to 3,000 on Rosh Hashanah. So [02:37] it's one of the high holidays. What's [02:39] your memory of Rosh Hashanah? [02:40] >> My memory of Rosh Hashanah is going to [02:42] my Orthodox Jewish grandparents home in [02:44] Brooklyn, New York and eating apples [02:48] dipped in honey and preparing really for [02:52] the next the next season of high [02:55] holidays. But I'll never forget being a [02:56] kid at my my Orthodox grandmother's [02:58] house who brother [03:00] actually accepted the Lord before she [03:03] passed away. My dad let her my dad let [03:04] her to the Lord. Rosh Hashanah holds so [03:06] many so many memories for me. [03:09] >> Yeah, me too. And at the apples and [03:10] honey are big one. It's a It's a sweet [03:12] year, right? It's for a sweet year. But [03:14] let's look what the Bible has to say [03:17] about Rosh Hashanah. This is Leviticus [03:21] 23 [03:22] verses 23 through 25. The Lord said to [03:25] Moses, "Say to the Israelites on the [03:27] first day of the seventh month [03:31] just notice that the first day of the [03:33] seventh month you are to have a day of [03:35] Sabbath rest, a sacred assembly [03:37] commemorated with trumpet blasts. [03:41] Do no regular work but present a food [03:45] offering to [03:47] the Lord." That's what the scripture [03:50] says about Rosh Hashanah. seems a little [03:53] like what's so big about Rosh Hashanah. [03:55] All it tells us to do [03:57] is blow a trumpet. [03:59] >> And we're not even clear about the [04:00] trumpet. [04:01] >> Yeah. [04:01] >> Because it's In Hebrew, it's Yom Teruah. [04:05] The day of the Teruah, [04:07] >> blowing [04:07] >> which is the blowing a blast, a sound. [04:10] >> Yeah. [04:11] >> And we we connect it not to the trumpet, [04:14] >> Yeah. [04:14] >> to the shofar. We We connect it to this, [04:17] the ram's horn. [04:18] >> Yeah. [04:18] >> Or the kudu. If you've seen a shofar [04:20] that's long and winded, that's from a [04:22] kudu. [04:23] >> Yeah. [04:23] >> But the traditional one is the ram's [04:25] horn. Some are bigger than this. This is [04:27] a beautifully crafted one. [04:28] >> Beautiful. [04:28] >> Uh and it makes a sound like this. [04:30] >> it. [04:35] I'm very very impressed. [04:37] >> Yeah. I mean, I've worked on that. [04:39] >> [laughter] [04:39] >> Bravo. [04:40] >> it's the blowing most likely of the [04:43] ram's horn, [04:44] >> Yep. [04:44] >> uh which we say Feast of Trumpets in [04:46] English, but it's not silver trumpets [04:48] like at four jubilee. [04:50] >> Right. [04:51] >> It it was the blowing of the shofar. [04:53] >> Yeah. [04:53] >> And it's kind of interesting. There's a [04:55] few things that we need to talk about [04:58] just up front. What is the scriptural [05:01] uh significance of this holiday versus [05:04] what it is today? And and there there [05:07] it's there's a shift, right? So, we have [05:10] the beginning of the high holidays in [05:12] Judaism, [05:14] uh the because it's the beginning of the [05:16] year, but the scripture says it's the [05:18] first day of the seventh month. [05:21] >> Yeah. [05:22] >> Not the not the first day of the year. [05:24] >> Yeah. [05:25] >> The first day of the seventh month. [05:26] >> Well, don't do rabbis, help me with this [05:28] since you are Rabbi Jonathan Bernis, do [05:30] rabbis believe that somehow creation was [05:34] connected with this time of the year? [05:38] >> That's exactly what the rabbis say [05:41] uh makes it the milestone beginning of [05:44] the year that this is the day of [05:47] creation that that God created the world [05:50] >> Yeah. [05:50] >> on this day. On it's the head of the [05:53] year because it was it was the day that [05:55] God created the world. [05:56] >> Amazing. It's just it's so so beautiful [05:59] to me. Just speaking of memories, I just [06:01] remember sitting in our synagogue and [06:04] hearing the rabbi blow and there was a [06:06] whole set of like little cadences that [06:09] they blew on this on this day, but it's [06:12] >> Tekiah, teruah, shvarim. [06:13] >> Right. [06:14] >> Yeah, in in very clear in very specific [06:16] order. [06:17] But it's important to point out that [06:19] this is a rabbinic change that's not [06:23] found in the scriptures. [06:24] >> Yeah. [06:25] >> And we celebrate it as part of our [06:27] custom, but there's no biblical [06:29] reference to this being the the first [06:31] day of the year where there's a shift [06:33] from it being the seventh first day of [06:35] the seventh month of the first day of [06:37] the first year [06:38] >> Yeah. [06:38] >> because the Bible clearly tells that [06:40] that Nissan or Abib, they're both [06:43] synonymous, Nissan or Abib, Abib in the [06:47] scriptures, Nissan also is mentioned is [06:49] the first day of the first month. Nissan [06:52] is the first month and we have of course [06:54] the Passover on the 10th day of the [06:57] first month. So, we have Passover taking [07:01] place or the 10th day of the month where [07:03] the where the where you take the lamb [07:05] >> Yeah. [07:06] >> and prepare the lamb. [07:07] >> Yeah. [07:07] >> But uh [07:08] that's the first month. So, Rosh [07:11] Hashanah is a cultural celebration that [07:14] the rabbis uh [07:16] told us is the beginning of creation in [07:18] the Talmud and Talmud Talmudically it [07:21] becomes Rosh Hashanah, not biblically. [07:23] >> Yeah. [07:23] >> So, that's a difference. [07:24] >> Yeah. Another thing I remember is really [07:26] a time of introspect introspection [07:28] because it's leading up to a a period of [07:31] time that immediately precedes [07:34] the holiest day of the year for Jewish [07:36] people which is [07:37] >> one is really important because uh [07:39] you begin the days of awe [07:41] >> Yeah. [07:41] >> where you're building up to Yom Kippur, [07:44] which is a solemn biblical holiday in [07:47] Leviticus 23. That is the day of [07:50] atonement where once a year we and this [07:53] is elaborated in the book of Hebrews, [07:55] which I encourage you all to read. In [07:57] the book of Hebrews, you have the [07:59] elaboration of the high priest being [08:01] prepared for the one day of the year. [08:03] >> Mhm. [08:03] >> And we're told this in Torah as well [08:05] that that the high priest only once a [08:07] year would go into the Holy of Holies on [08:10] Yom Kippur, the day of atonement, and [08:13] would make atonement for the sins the [08:16] the sins of ignorance for the people of [08:18] Israel. [08:19] >> Yeah. [08:19] >> Now, that can get really complicated. [08:21] We'll talk about that on our Yom Kippur [08:22] show [08:23] >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. [08:23] >> uh shortly in a few weeks, but uh [08:27] Rosh Hashanah with the blowing of the [08:29] shofar, which is actually biblically Yom [08:31] Teruah [08:33] the blowing of the shofar [08:35] does mean some a number of things [08:37] biblically. One, it's a call to prayer. [08:40] We we know that. It's a call to prayer. [08:41] It's a call to sacred assembly. [08:43] >> Mhm. [08:44] >> It's a a call to prepare for battle. [08:47] These are all uses of the of the shofar [08:50] or the trumpets in the history of [08:52] Israel. [08:52] >> Amazing. [08:52] >> Right? Call to prayer, call to [08:55] uh sacred assembly call to battle and it [09:00] also is a call to worship God. So, we [09:03] have we have different and uh there's [09:05] also commentary that the blowing of the [09:07] shofar also brings deliverance. [09:10] >> Yeah. [09:10] >> That there's deliverance in the blowing [09:11] of the shofar. [09:12] >> Yeah. [09:13] >> The important thing is that the day of [09:14] atonement with very little explanation, [09:16] as we just saw [09:18] begins a time of sacred introspection [09:21] where we're a sacred time of searching [09:24] our hearts. [09:25] >> Yeah. [09:25] >> Right? It's a that that those days of [09:27] awe are preparing our hearts, asking [09:31] questions like what what are we [09:35] uh guilty of before God that we haven't [09:38] repented for. [09:39] >> Yeah. What are what what are [09:42] um [09:43] relationships that haven't been resolved [09:46] need to be reconciled. [09:49] >> And and and on and on. So, they're days [09:50] of introspection. And this is a very [09:53] healthy thing for for for believers. [09:55] >> times in that in that period um you'll [09:58] have people coming and asking for [10:01] forgiveness of things that they're [10:02] remembering [10:04] as they're really going to the word. And [10:05] for for us who believe you know, [10:08] in Yeshua [10:09] as Lord, I I think we should always be [10:11] very very introspective and and be quick [10:15] to go and make relationships right. But [10:17] this particular 10 days [10:19] is a period of days where often times [10:21] many people in the Jewish community will [10:23] ask and seek forgiveness for fractured [10:26] relationships. [10:27] >> of the soul. [10:28] You know, we're called to do this on a [10:30] daily basis. We're called to renew our [10:32] minds. [10:33] >> Yeah. [10:33] >> Right, to search our hearts. But when [10:35] you have appointed days where this is [10:37] kind of mandatory for everyone, I think [10:39] it's a great thing. [10:40] >> Yeah, it's awesome. [10:41] >> Like Yom Kippur is a fasting day. Now, [10:44] we're called to fast and pray on a [10:45] regular basis, but it's great to attach [10:48] yourself to uh appointed times where [10:51] everyone's doing that together. And [10:53] that's the whole idea of the people of [10:55] Israel following the calendar that the [10:58] Hebrew calendar, the Torah calendar as [11:01] well as having the Torah broken into [11:04] portions that everybody's reading at the [11:06] same time. [11:07] >> Yeah. [11:07] >> Jews from all over the world and many [11:09] Christians have attached themselves to [11:10] that. [11:11] >> Yeah. [11:11] >> To to the to the parashat [11:14] the reading of the parashat. [11:15] >> Beautiful. [11:15] >> The portion that takes you from the [11:17] beginning of Genesis to the end of [11:20] Deuteronomy and then back again. [11:21] >> Yeah. [11:21] >> And we celebrate that. [11:23] >> Amazing. There's one other thing that [11:24] I'm I'm thinking of is that ceremony it [11:26] Tashlich, is that the proper way of [11:28] saying it? [11:29] >> Tashlich. [11:29] >> Where there's a like the ceremony of [11:32] Please explain it, but really like [11:34] casting off sins. Is that correct? [11:36] >> bread basically. We throw it into a pond [11:38] or body of water and we're we're [11:41] we're reminding ourselves that we're [11:43] casting off our sins and they're being [11:45] forgiven [11:46] >> Beautiful. [11:46] >> by God. It's it's a it's a wonderful [11:48] thing. There's so many customs, but [11:50] there's also the essence of the blowing [11:52] of the shofar waking us up, waking our [11:54] soul up and beginning the process of [11:57] repentance. [11:58] We've got to take a break, friends. If [12:00] you've heard the sounding of the shofar [12:02] in person in church or anywhere else, [12:04] you know it really is God's instrument [12:06] and it calls his people. Now, let's get back to [14:40] celebrating Rosh Hashanah. [14:42] >> Yeah, what an amazing holiday, and as [14:43] Messianic Jews, we celebrate Rosh [14:46] Hashanah as part of our culture. I'd [14:47] love for you to talk into that, and also [14:50] for people who are not necessarily born [14:53] Jewish, but have a desire to follow all [14:55] of the biblical feasts. How do we How do [14:57] we do this? [14:57] >> Yeah, well, [14:59] we're celebrating it this week, and we [15:01] encourage you to do so also. First of [15:02] all, read the scriptures connected to [15:05] Rosh Hashanah. Listen, even if you can't [15:09] go to a Messianic service and hear the [15:11] shofar blown, check it out on YouTube or [15:13] some other social media [15:16] post, and and it just listen to the [15:19] sound of the shofar being blown. The the [15:21] the the different sounds of the shofar, [15:24] it's really meaningful and it encourages [15:26] me. And then we have apples and honey [15:29] and we eat sweet things and we celebrate [15:31] the year ahead [15:33] biblically not the new year, but it is [15:35] the beginning of the preparation [15:37] for the days of our preparing our hearts [15:41] for that time of fasting and prayer and [15:43] intercession for what's ahead at Yom [15:46] Kippur. I think it's a great tradition. [15:48] >> I I do too and when when you think of [15:49] the ram's horn, it's it's a beautiful [15:52] beautiful picture of God's supernatural [15:55] provision. One of my favorite chapters [15:57] in the Bible, which I believe is the [15:59] first mention of where the ram's horn [16:00] might even have shown up is Genesis 22 [16:03] and I wonder if you can maybe tie that [16:05] into the whole meaning of Rosh Hashanah. [16:06] >> Yeah, in fact Genesis 22 [16:10] is the [16:11] passage that is the the the main it's [16:14] called it's called the Akedah [16:17] which is the sacrifice of Isaac [16:20] and it is the typical message in Judaism [16:24] on Rosh Hashanah. So through most of my [16:27] life going to synagogue and now when I [16:30] teach on Rosh Hashanah in Messianic [16:32] congregations, it's on this chapter and [16:36] it's the story of of God calling Abraham [16:39] to sacrifice Isaac his only begotten son [16:42] and this is this is very important. This [16:44] is a type. This is a foreshadow Scott of [16:48] the provision of the Messiah. [16:51] And and even Abraham being asked to [16:54] sacrifice his only son his [16:57] he's had he had other sons. He's had [16:59] Ishmael, but that's not the son of [17:01] promise. This is the son that God has [17:04] provided for him and Sarah [17:05] supernaturally and it's a picture of God [17:08] providing his son later on and he calls [17:12] Abraham to do something that sounds [17:14] horrible, but there is a purpose for it. [17:17] He He asked Abraham to sacrifice the son [17:21] that they've waited for decades for. And [17:24] finally, when it's impossible for Sarah [17:26] to have children because of her [17:28] disability and her inability, but also [17:31] her age. Now, she's 90 years of age. [17:34] >> says not only was she barren, but she [17:36] was beyond the age of bearing children. [17:37] >> So, you have two reasons that it's [17:39] impossible and that this is a miracle. [17:41] And God says, "Now, [17:43] with Isaac probably between the age of [17:46] 13 and 20, mid-20s, we don't know for [17:49] sure. I think he was around 20. Uh [17:52] clearly able to make his own decisions, [17:55] but God calls him at this age to [17:57] sacrifice Isaac. And he takes him to a [18:00] place that God ordains him to go to, and [18:03] it's called Moriah. [18:05] Now, what's Moriah? [18:07] Just so happens that Moriah is the [18:09] Temple Mount. It's at Jerusalem. We're [18:12] not told that till later on, but he's [18:13] taken to Jerusalem, the very place [18:16] thousands of years later where the [18:17] temple's going to be built. And the [18:19] place where Yeshua is going to be [18:21] sacrificed. [18:22] >> Amazing. [18:23] >> And and Isaac willingly complies with [18:27] with this. [18:28] They find the spot, and Abraham says, [18:30] "Isaac and I will go alone. You all stay [18:32] here." And Isaac is carrying the wood [18:35] for the offering. Think about this. [18:37] >> Yeah. [18:38] >> We talk about Abraham's faith, but what [18:39] about Isaac's faith? [18:40] >> Yeah. [18:41] >> Isaac has immense faith here to follow [18:43] his father realizing that there's no [18:46] sacrifice. And they go up to this to [18:48] this mount, which was Moriah, was the [18:51] Temple Mount, the very place where [18:53] Yeshua is later going to give his life [18:55] for us at Golgotha. [18:58] And [18:59] A Isaac allows allows Abraham to to [19:03] actually to tie him up. [19:05] And he raises the knife ready to [19:08] sacrifice him, and we're told in Hebrews [19:10] that he did this believing that God [19:12] would resurrect his son. [19:14] >> Wow. [19:15] >> That's the faith he had. But the angel [19:16] of the Lord stops him. Maybe you've seen [19:18] the the incredible [19:20] painting by [19:22] Rembrandt. It's a Is it a Rembrandt [19:23] painting? [19:24] >> Could be. [19:24] >> I think it's Rembrandt. It's it's just a [19:26] stunning painting [19:27] where the angel of the Lord stops him [19:30] and God declares [19:31] I I don't want you to do this. I I will [19:34] provide this lamb. And it was Abraham [19:37] who says God will provide himself [19:40] >> Yeah. A ram for an offering. [19:41] >> Yeah. And there's a ram caught in the [19:43] thicket and they sacrifice the ram. Now, [19:47] this is the ram's horn. This is the [19:49] reminder of God's sacrifice. [19:51] >> Incredible. [19:51] >> But it's a foreshadow. This is so [19:53] important of the lamb of God who would [19:55] later come to take away the sins of the [19:57] world. [19:58] >> Yeah. [19:58] >> This sacrifice that God stops is a [20:01] picture of what God is going to provide, [20:04] which is Yeshua in the same place I [20:06] believe that God stopped Isaac. [20:08] >> Amazing. I never thought of this before, [20:09] but for the first time I'm seeing the [20:11] ram's horn, the trumpet, really as [20:13] symbolic of resurrection because in 1 [20:15] Thessalonians 4:16, it says the Lord [20:18] himself will come down from heaven. [20:20] >> Yeah, let's show that. Let's read that [20:22] actually, Scott. If you can read that [20:23] that verse. [20:24] >> for the Lord himself will come down from [20:26] heaven with a loud command, with the [20:29] voice of the archangel, and with the [20:31] trumpet call of God, and the dead in [20:33] Christ shall rise first. So, here you've [20:36] got the trumpet call, and just like the [20:39] trumpet was significant where Isaac's [20:42] resurrection was concerned, God provided [20:45] resurrection for Isaac Abraham was ready [20:49] to kill him, the Lord spared him. The [20:50] Lord's The Lord's son rose from the [20:53] dead. The dead in Christ in the Messiah [20:55] will rise at the sounding of the [20:56] trumpet. [20:57] >> why many people believe that [21:00] the Messiah will return on Rosh [21:03] Hashanah. And it's very valid, but it's [21:05] connected to Rosh Hashanah. It's [21:06] connected to Yom Actually, not Rosh [21:08] Hashanah, but Yom Teruah, the blowing of [21:10] the shofar. And one last one that we [21:13] want to put on the uh on the screen. Uh [21:15] Matthew 24:30 and 31. Then will appear [21:19] the the the sign of the Son of Man in [21:22] heaven, and he will send his angels with [21:24] the loud trumpet or shofar sound, [21:27] Teruah, Yom Teruah, and they will gather [21:30] his elect from the four winds from one [21:33] end of heaven to the other. So, Yom [21:35] Teruah is very visible in the New [21:38] Testament. The idea of the blowing of [21:40] the shofar [21:41] >> Amazing. [21:41] >> very special day and what that [21:43] releases on the earth [21:45] >> I love it. [21:45] >> clear. The shofar has been calling God's [21:48] people for thousands of years and will [21:51] sound again on Messiah's return. He will [21:56] return with the blowing of the shofar, [21:59] and he will summon his people together, [22:01] God's people together again with Yom [22:03] Teruah, [22:04] the blowing of the shofar. Well, when we [22:07] come back, we'll take you to Jerusalem [22:10] to meet a young woman named Miriam. You [22:13] want to talk about Rosh Hashanah and new [22:14] beginnings? I would sit [22:53] alone while my son and daughter [music] [22:54] brought me food. [22:55] >> At our medical clinic, she received free [22:58] cataract surgery. [23:00] >> I am so happy [music] you have given us [23:01] light again. So, may your life be filled [23:03] with God's light. [23:05] >> See, when you give generously, you [23:07] restore sight to the blind. [music] [23:10] Jesus spent part of his ministry doing [23:12] just that, and you can do that, too. And [23:53] today, we have a very [music] special [23:55] offer. We'd like to send you Rabbi [23:58] Jonathan Bernis's 3D D collection, [24:01] exploring Rosh [music] Hashanah, Yom [24:03] Kippur, and Sukkot, absolutely free. [24:06] It's a $60 value. Anything you choose to [24:09] give will be a huge blessing to those in [24:11] need. [24:12] Samuel fell and hit his head and came to [24:15] our medical clinic with an abscess of [24:17] the skull. [music] Thanks to our donors, [24:19] he got the surgery he so desperately [24:22] needed. In Israel, our partners helped [24:25] two Jewish sisters [music] restart their [24:26] lives after they fled Ukraine with [24:29] nothing. [24:30] >> It was like someone came in and waved a [24:32] magic wand. [24:33] >> If you're not a partner yet, [music] you [24:35] can help the blind see and show the love [24:37] of Yeshua to those in need. So, please [24:40] don't wait. Call, scan the QR code, or [24:44] go online to give today. [24:48] >> I can't tell you enough how much your [24:51] support means to this ministry, and more [24:53] importantly, to the people we serve. [24:56] Jewish people and their neighbors, [24:58] you're making a huge difference with [25:00] your partnership. Now, take a look at [25:02] the difference our partners have made in [25:05] Miriam's life and her children's lives. [25:11] >> Every day, [music] Miriam helps young [25:13] mothers choose life at this crisis [25:15] pregnancy center, which is a Jewish [25:17] Voice Partner ministry. It's the same [25:20] center where she chose [music] life [25:22] herself. [25:24] >> When I was 16 and a half, I was [25:27] uh [25:28] lost lost in my life. [25:31] >> [music] [25:31] >> I just left my uh [25:33] family who was a Orthodox Jewish family. [25:38] Uh I was so confused looking for love [25:40] outside. [music] [25:41] Didn't find it in in the religion where [25:43] I grew up, so [25:45] you know, parties [25:47] mans [music] and so and so, so I found [25:50] myself unexpectedly pregnant in 16 and a [25:53] half. [25:56] >> At just 16 and homeless, [25:58] >> [music] [25:59] >> Miriam was ready to end her pregnancy. [26:01] Then, thanks to your donations, she [26:03] found the compassion, counseling, and [26:06] the loving support she so desperately [26:08] [music] needed. [26:09] >> I didn't have a family to support me, a [26:11] boyfriend to support me. I didn't even [26:13] have a house or somewhere to stay. And [26:16] then I found Bat [music] Chaim. [26:18] They gave me like a rest a rest in my [26:20] mind that, "Okay, I got this. I can do [26:23] this. Everything will be [music] okay." [26:24] And then like [26:26] they will give me all the stuff. [26:28] >> Thanks to your generosity, [26:29] >> [music] [26:29] >> Miriam got the baby supplies, clothes, [26:32] diapers, formula, and other necessities [26:35] she and her son needed. [26:37] >> When I had my son [26:40] that's when serious life uh began. I [26:43] took myself serious. I start to [26:46] find a job [26:48] find myself, [music] take care of [26:49] myself, and take care of my son. It was [26:53] the greatest decision [music] in my [26:54] life. [27:00] >> Miriam eventually got married and wanted [27:02] to have [music] more children. Then she [27:04] got pregnant with monoamniotic twins, a [27:07] rare occurrence where the babies develop [27:09] in the same amniotic sac, [27:11] >> [music] [27:11] >> facing dangerous cord complications that [27:14] make the pregnancy one of the highest [27:16] risk. [music] [27:17] Multiple doctors urged her to just get [27:19] an abortion. Instead, she chose life [27:21] again. As a Messianic believer, she [27:24] [music] trusted God with the outcome. [27:27] >> Every week I just prayed and I said, [27:30] "Lord, it's yours." And [music] the [27:32] babies was just fine. Just one of them [27:34] had a little cleft lip. After 3 months [27:37] with the surgery, now you cannot see the [27:38] difference. Even the doctor, was my [27:41] [music] last one, recommend me abortion. [27:43] He said, "Wow, I never see [27:46] a brave mother [music] like you standing [27:48] on the ground. Now you have two little [27:50] boys, [27:51] healthy ones. They are alive. They are [27:54] such a blessing in my life." [28:04] >> [music] [28:04] >> Today, Miriam has a calling to be a [28:05] wife, a mother, and a counselor at the [28:08] crisis pregnancy center. [28:14] So, through your work, [28:16] you're saving children's lives, saving [28:19] babies. [music] [28:20] >> Yes. Yes. [28:21] It's amazing to see it in your daily [28:24] know? [music] [28:25] >> Yeah. [28:25] >> How the mother start starting and how [28:27] it's end because [28:30] you can see same person [28:33] >> [crying] [28:34] >> change life. You know, in the beginning, [28:36] the mother she is so confused. [28:39] She is young. She doesn't know what to [28:40] do. And when she have this child, [28:42] [music] she is she is standing. She is [28:45] standing. She is a mother. She is [28:47] strong. [28:49] >> Tell me all three [music] names. [28:51] >> My oldest is Osher and then we have [28:53] Elchai and Eloi. Difficult pregnancy [28:57] that I had and that the only way that I [28:59] get through it is [music] is with God. [29:01] >> Through every trial, Miriam's faith in [29:04] Jesus the Messiah has grown. [music] [29:06] >> After I gave birth to Osher, [29:09] my oldest son, [29:12] >> [music] [29:12] >> I had a incredible encounter with [29:14] Yeshua. [29:15] And I felt the presence of God and I [29:18] knew [29:19] this is God. [music] [29:21] This is the true God who loves me and [29:22] forgives me. [29:24] And that's actually changed [music] my [29:27] life. [29:27] >> The teenage girl who was once alone and [29:30] confused is now the woman lifting up [29:33] other young mothers [29:34] >> [music] [29:34] >> and helping them choose life. [29:37] >> Through this organization, [29:39] I felt worthy again. [29:41] And now [music] I get to change people's [29:43] lives. [29:44] I never [29:46] thought when I was 16 that this is what [29:48] will what what will happen. [29:50] It changed my life [29:53] tremendously. [29:57] >> Jonathan, she said something. She said, [30:00] "Same person, changed life." [30:03] And when I think about that, it really [30:05] really blesses me because the only one [30:06] that can change a life is Yeshua. [30:09] But it's beautiful that he uses people [30:13] as his hands and feet and that Jewish [30:15] Voice has the opportunity to be part of [30:19] changing lives in Israel. And we [30:21] couldn't do this without partners around [30:24] the world who are giving and it is [30:26] absolutely beautiful. [30:27] >> I'm struggling not to [30:29] cry. [30:29] >> Mhm. [30:30] >> It's such a touching piece. It really [30:32] is. [30:33] Saving lives. [30:34] >> Yeah. [30:35] >> Like [30:36] the unborn. I think without hope she [30:38] would have [30:39] she would have have through a a an [30:41] abortion. [30:42] >> Yeah. [30:42] >> And and lost those beautiful kids. [30:45] >> and now her face shines with light. It [30:48] is just absolutely amazing. So, I am [30:51] just I'm just a [30:51] >> I just want to mention that we [30:53] we when we say partner, we're not just [30:55] sending them a check. [30:57] >> Right. [30:57] >> We're [30:57] we're there with the financial support, [31:00] the prayer support, the interaction, [31:02] >> Yeah. [31:03] >> the the relationships. This is an [31:05] extension of your of your arms, of your [31:08] giving. [31:09] >> Yeah.
