Transcript [00:00] The UN General Assembly in New York is a [00:02] place for anti-Israel [music] [00:04] diet tribes and this year is no [00:06] exception. I've got two examples to [00:09] share with you. Let's start with French [00:11] President Emanuel Macron. [00:14] Look, just look at look at what's [00:16] happening in the West Bank where day in [00:19] day out we are seeing violations [00:22] and in the name of what [00:26] Hamas was never very active in the West [00:30] Bank. [00:32] What we need is respect for the [00:34] legitimate rights of the Palestinian [00:36] people, their legitimate right to exist. [00:38] This is a prerequisite for security [00:42] today and tomorrow for the people of [00:44] Israel, [00:46] their security, their very existence, to [00:49] which we're very committed. But all [00:50] those who claim that Israel's security [00:52] requires the violation of the [00:53] sovereignty of all of its neighboring [00:55] states are making very fateful error. [00:58] They are weakening Israel's security [01:00] today and going forward. They are [01:03] threatening Israel security. [01:05] Okay, all I can say about that is mure. [01:08] It's a pack of lies, but you know, [01:11] that's not surprising coming from [01:13] Emanuel Mcron. Uh, but let's start with [01:16] his premise that there that kamas is not [01:19] operating in what he calls the West Bank [01:22] and what we call Judea and Samaria. [01:25] That's a lie. In fact, just last week, a [01:28] French citizen, an Israeli French [01:30] citizen, someone with dual French [01:32] Israeli citizenship, was slaughtered by [01:34] a Hamas terrorist um in front of his [01:37] young son, a father of six, um whose [01:40] name is Shukrun, Netanel Shukrun. So, um [01:44] interesting that Emanuel Mron didn't [01:47] mention him. Uh furthermore, it's not [01:50] only Hamas operating in uh in that area, [01:54] also uh other terrorist groups. In fact, [01:57] yesterday a the uh son of Israel's [02:02] ambassador to the United States, Yak [02:04] Lighter, his son was uh attacked by a [02:08] car rammer in that area and he is in [02:12] very critical condition in the hospital [02:15] in Jerusalem and his father immediately [02:17] left to fly back to Israel to be at his [02:20] bedside. Um, and by the way, while we're [02:22] on that topic, let's just say that [02:24] everybody in Israel is praying for him. [02:27] His name is Narad Dove. Um, Narad Dove [02:32] Ben Kana Lighter and uh, anyone who [02:36] wants to pray for him uh, please do so. [02:39] So, Mark, I mean really it's outrageous [02:41] what Macron says, but it's not [02:43] surprising um, given that France is [02:46] really turning into a kamas bastion. So [02:49] V, I'd like to start by also [02:52] my hopes for the child of the [02:55] ambassador. [02:56] What has to be said is ambassador L [02:58] already lost his older son in combat in [03:01] Gaza and now his second son is fighting [03:04] for his uh life in hospital and and and [03:09] our thoughts and prayers uh with him and [03:13] the family. a terrible situation, but it [03:16] just undercuts I mean Macron says these [03:18] things just as a French citizen has been [03:20] killed by terrorists on the West Bank [03:21] and and now another attack and I think [03:24] this shows the disconnect of Europe. [03:26] They're disconnected from reality. Um [03:29] that they don't uh want to talk about or [03:32] don't recognize or don't acknowledge [03:33] that that Jewish communities face an [03:37] ongoing threat from the West Bank. To [03:39] say that there's not a security threat [03:40] from the West Bank, to say there's no [03:42] kamas from the West Bank is just to to [03:44] to be like an ostrich putting it in the [03:46] sand. You're ignoring facts. You're [03:48] ignoring reality. And it's not just, you [03:51] know, a car rammer or a terrorist with a [03:54] gun. If the IDF wasn't going in and out [03:57] of uh West Bank/Jude Samaria, uh that [04:01] the terror threat would be much much [04:03] much greater. There have been uh [04:06] repeated examples of the IDF going into [04:08] places in the West Bank to destroy uh [04:12] small factories where they make uh [04:15] missiles [04:17] and you know Gaza missiles were a big [04:19] enough problem but Gaza is a small part [04:21] of Israel in the south but if you look [04:23] at the map of the West Bank Judea [04:25] Samaria and Israel that that's from a [04:27] fuller in the north through to Beerva in [04:30] the south and if you had the ability to [04:33] build uh missiles there [04:36] that that that then endangers all of [04:38] Israel and so the idea that oh I dismiss [04:41] there's no security challenge from the [04:43] West Bank there aren't terrorists in the [04:44] West Bank as Macron says these silly [04:46] Israelis don't understand there is no [04:48] threat from the West Bank I'm sorry [04:50] President Macarron you're being silly to [04:52] ignore a very very very real threat that [04:56] Israel faces from terrorism in the West [04:57] Bank and you expect the Palestinian [04:59] Authority to fight this terrorism [05:01] there's no example whatsoever that the [05:04] Palestinian Authority has taken these [05:05] threats seriously. The IDF is the one [05:08] defending the people of Israel. The IDF [05:11] has to be there. Israel has to be in the [05:13] West Bank for the foreseeable future. [05:16] >> So, first of all, I would say not only [05:18] for the foreseeable future, but okay, [05:20] that's another discussion. But here's [05:23] the thing. You think that Emanuel Macron [05:26] doesn't know the facts. He's ignoring [05:28] them. Or this is just purposeful because [05:30] let's put it this way. Um and you know [05:34] he has uh he's he's a left-winger. His [05:37] constituents also France is inundated by [05:41] uh Muslim immigrants as is most of [05:43] Europe and they cater the politicians [05:46] are all catering to that um sort of [05:48] lowest denominator of society that is [05:51] anti-western by the way and um and [05:54] doesn't want to integrate into European [05:57] society. That's uh the real problem. [05:59] It's not that they're Muslims and it's [06:01] not that they're immigrants. It's that [06:03] usually immigrants who go to another [06:04] country do it in order to learn the [06:06] language, to integrate, to have a better [06:09] life for their children. And in this [06:11] case in Europe, it's not the case. But [06:13] also, let's make something clear. First [06:15] of all, you mentioned rockets. The IDF [06:18] has found rockets, homemade rockets [06:22] stored in various um slicks inside Judea [06:26] and Samaria. And um let's put it another [06:29] thing is that Macron kept mentioning [06:32] sovereignty that Israel is invading the [06:36] sovereignty of all its neighbors. This [06:38] is also a lie. Israel is protecting its [06:41] citizenry after particularly after [06:44] October 7th. That massacre was Israel [06:47] had completely withdrawn from Gaza. [06:49] Israel had withdrawn from Lebanon. [06:51] Israel, wherever Israel leaves, [06:54] terrorism fers and Israeli civilians and [06:58] soldiers, but but civilians are targeted [07:00] in Israel. It's not that Israel targets [07:03] civilians, it's the other way around. [07:05] So, uh let's get that straight. And um [07:09] he has a lot of nerve because actually [07:13] um actually I think Macron does know the [07:16] facts. Here's where I'm going to say. [07:17] It's one thing to just say, well, he's [07:19] ignorant. He has been presented those [07:21] facts repeatedly um by um not only by [07:26] NOS's in Israel but also by UN watch [07:30] many uh and by Prime Minister Netanyahu. [07:32] He has been uh shown the facts and so I [07:37] think he does know them but he doesn't [07:39] care. And so that is why I think many [07:42] people would call him an anti-semite, [07:44] though I would just call him uh um [07:47] afraid of his of the Muslims in France. [07:50] >> I would like to take issue with you. You [07:53] called him a left-winger. Ultimately, [07:57] he's a centrist politician and that's [07:59] why it's so dangerous because he is [08:01] representing in many ways a European [08:03] mainstream. [08:04] Uh you said two weeks ago when we [08:06] discussed Britain you talked about a [08:09] friend of yours in Britain who said uh [08:11] you know Kestama might have been a [08:12] problem but if someone else comes in [08:14] we'll we'll we'll miss him [08:16] and it's true since Kama left the [08:18] British government has gone in you know [08:21] overdrive on power drive I don't know [08:24] what we want to call it on [08:25] anti-Israelism [08:27] and there's a left in France which is [08:30] much more pro problematic the the far [08:32] left will uh will make us also if they [08:35] ever get into power in France, they'll [08:37] make us uh also miss Macron for all his [08:41] many many faults. And you know what is [08:43] especially sad? There was a time when [08:45] France was a good friend of Israel. [08:48] There was a time in the past, now we're [08:50] going back a few decades, but in [08:51] Israel's first decade of existence in [08:54] the 1950s and in in the first half of [08:56] the 1960s, Israel and France had a very [09:00] strong relationship. In fact, France was [09:02] our most important ally. The Israeli Air [09:05] Force that won the 67 war on the first [09:07] day by hitting the Isra the Egyptian Air [09:10] Force when they still in the ground, [09:11] they were French planes. The Americans [09:14] didn't sell us combat aircraft. The the [09:15] French did. Uh there's a little nuclear [09:18] reactor in Deona that was supplied by [09:20] the French. In other words, France used [09:22] to be Israel's strongest friend, not in [09:26] Europe, but in the world. And this was [09:28] based on French governments who who [09:30] remembered the Holocaust, who remembered [09:32] the terrible role that the Vichy [09:34] government played in collaborating with [09:35] the Holocaust, who felt a obligation to [09:37] Israel, who saw Israel as a young [09:40] democratic ally [09:42] and unfortunately Macron is represents [09:45] the current reality which uh which is a [09:48] France that is very standoffish or [09:51] hostile to Israel depending on what word [09:52] you want to do. It it started with the [09:55] Gaul in ' 67 who refused to support [09:57] Israel in an hour of need and French [10:00] president since then for all sorts of [10:02] reasons have been problematic towards [10:05] Israel and Mcron isn't the first [10:09] unfortunately rightly or wrongly [10:11] Israelis have a higher expectation they [10:13] say France is a serious country France [10:16] is a permanent member of the UN security [10:18] council France is a leading member of [10:20] the European Union France has soft power [10:24] and moral authority and all this sort of [10:26] stuff. And when it comes to Israel, [10:28] not only do they get it wrong, but they [10:30] speak rubbish. I mean, to say there is [10:32] no Hamas on the West Bank for a [10:34] president to say, you think he'd have a [10:36] basic fact checker uh when he prepares [10:38] his speech and and if he does, maybe [10:41] they have what President Trump once [10:43] called alternative facts. They just make [10:45] up their own facts. [10:47] >> He does. Let me let me say that. Um [10:50] you're right. when you call him a [10:52] centrist. But this is one of the reasons [10:54] that you and I have argued about this [10:56] repeatedly off camera as well. That's [10:59] why I don't believe there is such a [11:00] thing as the center today. The word the [11:03] center is a euphemism for um for a um an [11:10] entity, a political party, a political [11:13] block that has moved to the left. And [11:16] yes, there's always more radical [11:18] leftists. We see that in the Democratic [11:20] Party in the United States. Yes, of [11:22] course, the Democratic Party is not [11:24] uniform. There are severe radicals, [11:27] Islamists, Communists. We know that and [11:30] it's not the whole party. But the point [11:32] is that the mainstream has shifted left. [11:35] So when you say he's mainstream, yes. [11:37] And what's worrisome about it is that [11:39] it's not centrist at all. And secondly, [11:43] when you talk about the history of [11:45] relations with France and you say you [11:47] you you're absolutely right, but here's [11:49] the problem. many countries as soon as [11:52] Israel was no longer seen as let's say [11:55] victims of the Holocaust and you know [11:57] the David and Goliath story um after the [12:01] 19676 [12:03] day war gradually all of those so-called [12:07] centrists or those on the left who had [12:09] been all pro- Israel suddenly began to [12:13] move move against Israel. Israel is the [12:15] big bad monster now against these poor [12:19] Arabs. That's the the narrative shifted [12:23] because as is the title of um of a of a [12:27] well-known book um people love dead Jews [12:31] and they don't let and these days after [12:34] October 7th one thing we saw the [12:36] shocking thing is that people don't even [12:38] love dead Jews anymore because October [12:40] 7th sort of reawakened dormant [12:44] anti-semitism and gave legitimacy to [12:46] open anti-semitism and that is true not [12:49] only of Europe It's also true in the [12:51] United States, shockingly, and in [12:53] Australia. We've seen this now in [12:55] countries that that shock you to [12:58] discover it. And um so, as I said, [13:02] Macron, shame on him. And um [13:05] >> I want to add one more to go on Macron [13:06] if I can. [13:09] He sort of in the second part of his of [13:11] the clip we showed, he sort of says he's [13:13] speaking to the Israeli people and he [13:14] says, you know, you we're we're [13:16] interested in your security and we [13:19] support your you know, your your your [13:21] right to live in freedom and and and [13:24] safety and so forth. But can I do [13:26] whatever he has said it becomes [13:29] irrelevant because of the stupidity of [13:31] his comment about there's no terror [13:32] threat from the West Bank as if France [13:35] wants to be taken seriously if France [13:38] wants the Israeli people to listen he [13:41] has to speak the truth and the truth is [13:43] he has to acknowledge that if Israel was [13:46] to pull out of the West Bank tomorrow as [13:49] France apparently wants us to do as the [13:51] British foreign secretary said when he [13:53] said the Israeli presence in the West [13:54] Bank is illegal. Yes. So if we pull out, [13:57] what happens? [13:59] It's not like we're going to have [14:00] Denmark next door. We're not going to [14:02] have Belgium next door. We're going to [14:05] have maybe another Gaza next door, maybe [14:07] worse. In other words, the whole idea [14:09] that Israel should just pull out of the [14:11] West Bank that we don't, you know, there [14:13] all these peaceloving Palestinians who [14:15] just want to live with us in coexistence [14:17] and cooperation. It's rubbish. And he if [14:22] he wants to be taken seriously by people [14:24] in Israel, even by the peace camp in [14:26] Israel, what what is euphemistically [14:28] called the peace camp, the Israeli left. [14:30] Yes. He needs to acknowledge that it's a [14:33] little more complex than this simplistic [14:36] European [14:38] naive slash very problematic slash maybe [14:42] anti-Israel, not maybe maybe [14:44] anti-semitic even. Yes. um a way of [14:47] looking at the conflict to say oh [14:49] there's no challenges from the West [14:50] Bank. All the problem is of what [14:52] Israel's presence there and what Israel [14:54] is doing there. It's not that Israel [14:57] Israel's very existence depends on the [14:59] fact that the West Bank does not become [15:02] a hostile territory the way Gaza became [15:04] under Kamas. [15:06] >> First of all, Gaza didn't become only [15:08] under Kamas. Yes. And Judea and Samaria [15:10] didn't only become hostile under it. It [15:13] is Israeli fantasies of peace throughout [15:16] the decades that have caused um the uh [15:21] the left and uh even some not on the [15:24] left but today it's only the left to [15:27] imagine to fantasize to have the what we [15:29] call the consensia that all we need is [15:32] to make peace with them or give them [15:34] money give them jobs give them this [15:35] whatever we'll we'll have a we'll we'll [15:37] we'll make deals with them and they keep [15:40] saying no we want to kill you we want [15:43] Israel to be annihilated. They say it in [15:45] their media, in their mosques, in [15:47] everything. And so we keep saying, "No, [15:49] no, no. They don't really mean it." Now, [15:51] today, just so that people should get an [15:53] idea of how how much um Israel has [15:57] changed its view of this is that even [16:00] the far-left in Israel in the current [16:03] election campaign is saying, "No, no, [16:06] let's not even talk about a Palestinian [16:08] state." Now, the reason they're saying [16:10] that is because even they acknowledge [16:13] that if they talk about it, they won't [16:15] get elected. Second, [16:17] that it's totally unrealistic. And for [16:20] Macron, it's not just that he talks [16:22] about Judea and Samaria. [16:24] What he said was that we are invading [16:26] the sovereignty of all the countries [16:28] around us. On the contrary, what have we [16:30] done? Um, we signed the Oslo Accords in [16:34] the 1990s. The violations going on in [16:37] Judea and Samaria are all carried out by [16:41] the Arabs living there, not by the Jews [16:44] living there. The they are building [16:47] illegally. They are attacking. This was [16:49] supposed to be a peace accord and it was [16:52] divided into area A, B, and C. Whatever [16:56] happened to that? Israel signed the Oslo [16:58] Accords. Second, what about the Abraham [17:01] Accords? We're invading sovereignty of [17:03] our Arab neighbors. On the contrary, [17:06] we've been begging them to make peace [17:07] with us. We're saying we want peace in [17:10] the Middle East and we're doing it. And [17:12] President Trump brokered that, the [17:14] Abraham Accords, and more apparently [17:17] more countries are going to join. Um, [17:20] and the reason the Abraham Accords are [17:22] uncomfortable not only to Hamas and [17:24] Fatak and other terrorist groups, but to [17:27] other um to to the far-left is that the [17:31] Abraham Accords really the premise is [17:34] that you don't need Palestinian state [17:37] before you can make peace with the Arab [17:39] neighbors. So when he talks about Israel [17:42] invading sovereignty, the only uh [17:45] sovereignty being invaded in this area [17:48] is Israel's is Jewish sovereignty over [17:52] the land of Israel. [17:53] >> Can I add before we go on to our second [17:55] example and that is uh France's [17:59] irrelevancy in peacemaking. I mean he [18:02] can talk about France wanting peace [18:04] until tomorrow but France is irrelevant. [18:05] We see that in Lebanon where France [18:08] claims to have residual influence. It's [18:10] the former colonial power. It's the they [18:12] have a a historic connection with the [18:14] government of Lebanon. And yet in these [18:16] talks, peace talks which hopefully will [18:17] go in a good direction. Yes. Between [18:19] Jerusalem and Beirut, between Israel and [18:21] Lebanon, French are irrelevant. It's all [18:23] the Americans who are leading the show. [18:25] And maybe uh Macron is in his harsh [18:29] remarks he's also all consciously or [18:32] subconsciously [18:34] expressing this frustration that France [18:35] is irrelevant that France in actual [18:38] peacemaking France is irrelevant whether [18:41] it's Israel Palestinians where nothing's [18:43] going on anyway but France Lebanon [18:45] France Syria uh getting the hostages out [18:49] all this France was irrelevant and so [18:51] okay maybe when you're irrelevant you [18:54] you stand up like a little boy uh uh [18:57] seeking attention. Yes, you stand up and [18:58] you say outrageous things. But now, [19:00] let's move on to our second example of [19:02] an anti-Israel data tribe. And this [19:04] actually comes from uh a leader who has [19:08] a peace treaty with Israel. Let's listen [19:11] to King Abdullah II of Jordan. [19:15] And while the world has been focused on [19:18] Gaza, [19:20] something extraordinarily dangerous [19:23] is unfolding in the West Bank. [19:27] Some may think we have seen this before. [19:30] Settlements, violence, displacement, [19:33] more of the same. [19:36] But it is not. [19:38] Nor is it simply an escalation. [19:42] This is a fundamental shift. [19:46] What was once a creeping process has [19:49] exploded into something far more [19:51] aggressive. [19:53] Settler violence is rampant. [19:54] Palestinians are being beaten, shot, and [19:57] terrorized. [19:58] Homes churched, property destroyed, [20:01] families driven from their land. [20:05] And Israel is tightening its grip on [20:08] more of the West Bank, seizing land, [20:11] expanding settlements, [20:13] and pushing the Palestinians out. [20:16] >> Okay. Uh first of all, before we talk [20:19] about every single falsehood in that [20:22] statement, and let's face it, uh the [20:24] king of Jordan, listen, look at how [20:26] elegant he is and how well he speaks [20:28] English and how educated he is. And so [20:31] it sounds very persuasive, okay? even [20:33] though and it's an Arab country. It's [20:35] not a European country like Macron. Um [20:38] but he does have a peace treaty with [20:40] Israel from 1994. Let's just talk about [20:44] how disgusting this is in the wider [20:47] context. Israel making peace with Israel [20:51] um gave him everything and gave us very [20:55] little. Okay, we give him water, [20:57] electricity. Um, we supply Jordan was a [21:00] failed state because, uh, by the way, [21:04] uh, the king of Jordan, his father, King [21:06] Hussein, um, made a decree in 1988, I [21:11] think it was, um, that all the [21:14] Palestinians in the West Bank in Judea [21:16] and Samaria, the Arabs living in Judea [21:18] and Samaria who were called [21:20] Palestinians, um, to strip them because [21:23] actually they were under Jordanian [21:25] sovereignty. And that's what people [21:26] don't realize also about the six- day [21:28] war that this idea that Israel, you [21:31] know, somehow the these are the uh [21:34] territories won in a six- day war by [21:37] Israel were all under um they weren't [21:40] Palestinian. These were this was Jordan. [21:42] Um and King Hussein stripped every [21:47] single Palestinian in Judea and Samaria [21:50] of his Jordanian citizenship, his [21:52] passport, etc., or his and her may I say [21:56] and the Palestinians or those who call [21:59] themselves Palestinians living in Jordan [22:02] are second thirdass citizens and this is [22:05] despite the fact that um King Hussein's [22:08] wife Queen Rana has some Palestinian [22:11] origin in her back background and um the [22:16] point is that he his what what I call I [22:20] don't know how you say that in Arabic [22:21] but I'll tell you something his abuse [22:23] boost of Palestinians is so severe that [22:27] he has the nerve to talk about that [22:29] about Israel. And what's more, [22:32] everything he said was a lie. The [22:33] violence and the attacks and the [22:35] torching that is really in the direction [22:38] of Israel and the so-called violent [22:40] settlers um you know, we don't approve [22:44] of vigilante uh justice in Israel or [22:46] vigilante vi violence and um we we [22:50] denounce it. However, it's important to [22:52] stress that when there are violent [22:55] attacks on the so-called settler [22:57] violence, these are attacks, they're [23:00] they're self-defensive or um in revenge. [23:05] No Israeli settler or anybody else has. [23:08] I mean, by the way, we're all settlers [23:10] in the eyes of the Arabs uh living in [23:13] so-called Palestine that doesn't exist. [23:16] Uh we're all settlers, including people [23:18] who live in Tel Aviv and sit at cafes. [23:21] The point is that when a peace is made [23:24] with us and when no Jews are harmed, [23:27] everything is fine. They get along fine. [23:30] Settlements, the settlers get along with [23:32] their Arab neighbors. The only time [23:34] there is what they call escalation is [23:37] when Jews are attacked. [23:40] >> So I agree and I disagree. Let's start [23:43] where I agree. [23:45] You're 100% correct when you say the the [23:47] the overwhelming majority of violence is [23:50] against on the West Bank Judea Samaria. [23:53] The overwhelming majority of violence is [23:55] ArabonJu. Right? And we've just [23:58] discussed in the last week we've had one [24:00] person is critically fighting for his [24:02] life, the son of the ambassador. Another [24:04] person was killed, the father of six. [24:06] Right? Uh and what we're seeing is [24:08] Israeli unlawful [24:11] vigilanteism which is a level of [24:13] violence and criminality but it's not [24:15] the same. It's not terrorism. Um it has [24:18] to be condemned and you condemn it too. [24:20] I I don't make excuses for it that it's [24:23] a revenge or something. It's still [24:24] illegal. They shouldn't be doing it and [24:25] the people people doing it should be [24:27] brought to justice. [24:28] >> Having said that, there have been [24:31] examples of Jewish terrorism. The most [24:35] infamous was in Dummer. What was that [24:38] more than 10 years ago where a firebomb [24:40] was thrown into a house and a family was [24:41] >> by the way that's still there are some [24:43] facts of that case that are disable I [24:45] understand that but I do know that the [24:47] Israeli government and prime minister [24:49] Daniel [24:50] >> described it at the time as Jewish [24:52] terrorism. Yes. [24:53] >> And so there have been isolated acts. [24:56] But for the king to stand up and ignore [24:59] the serious security threats that [25:01] Israelis face is unfortunate. Maybe I'm [25:04] a bit more tolerant than him than I am [25:07] of a European leader because he's [25:09] ultimately as you said he's got a strong [25:11] Palestinian constituency in his country [25:14] and he's a member of the Arab League and [25:16] what I can tolerate from him I can't [25:19] tolerate from Macron who I have higher [25:21] expectations of. And here I want to say [25:22] something about Israeli Jordan [25:24] relations. You you forgot to say [25:27] something that's very important or uh [25:30] maybe you didn't emphasize it enough. I [25:32] mean the king of Jordan, that monarchy [25:34] wouldn't be in existence without Israeli [25:36] support. There's the famous story from [25:39] 1970 [25:40] where the Palestinians in Jordan do an [25:43] armed revolt against the monarchy of of [25:45] King Abdalah's father, King Crus. And [25:48] then the Syrians, who were a Russian [25:50] satellite, a Soviet satellite at the [25:52] time, invaded. They sent tanks in from [25:54] the north. And everyone thought that [25:56] Jordan, which was a pro-Western Arab [25:59] monarchy, was about to fall. And the [26:02] Nixon administration asks the government [26:04] of Golden to interfere. in Israel [26:06] mobilizes its forces on the border and [26:10] we actually send the IDF over the [26:12] Israeli air force over the advancing uh [26:15] Syrian armored columns. We don't fire a [26:18] shot, but they get the message and the [26:20] Syrians withdraw and the Jerian monarchy [26:23] stays in power because without the [26:25] Syrian involvement, the the government [26:27] of King Hussein was strong enough to [26:28] defeat the insurgents. A and so [26:31] basically this government wouldn't be in [26:34] power wouldn't be in power without [26:37] Israeli intervention. And that's the [26:39] bottom line. And today, as you said [26:40] correctly, this government uh Jordan [26:42] gets water from Israel. They're a [26:44] country with they're a country with an [26:45] extreme water shortage. And we give them [26:48] literally millions of cubic meters of [26:50] water every year. Uh they get uh um uh [26:53] natural gas from Israel [26:54] >> and desalinization as well purification. [26:57] >> They get natural gas from Israel where [26:59] there where Egypt and Jordan both [27:01] receive natural gas for their energy [27:03] grid. And there's security cooperation. [27:05] And here I want to say something that [27:08] needs to be said and maybe Israel you [27:10] would argue is making a mistake and I [27:12] would argue is not making a mistake. The [27:14] security com uh uh cooperation between [27:16] Israel and Jordan obviously helps keep [27:18] the regime in power and if we hear about [27:20] threats against the the the regime, we [27:22] I'm sure we share that with them. But it [27:25] also serves Israel interests. Our [27:27] longest land border [27:30] is our border with Jordan and that's [27:32] from the Sea of Galilee in the north [27:33] down to Elat Akoba in the south. And [27:37] with all the problems we have with [27:39] Jordan, that is substantially [27:42] a peaceful border. And that is because [27:44] of security cooperation between the two [27:47] countries. And my uh one of my children [27:50] uh did uh her national service, her [27:53] military service there on the border, [27:54] and she would share with me different [27:57] examples of how we coordinate with [28:00] Jordanians. Now, is it perfect [28:01] cooperation? No. But is that making sure [28:04] so far that that border isn't a hostile [28:06] border? That security corporation I [28:08] think most people in Israel would say [28:10] that security cooperation is a good [28:12] thing. And here's what has been Israeli [28:15] policy under consecutive governments has [28:17] been we don't like it when the Jordanian [28:20] leadership says all this stuff like we [28:22] just heard very critical very one-sided [28:24] and they vote the wrong way at the UN. [28:26] But maybe Israelis, I don't want to say [28:28] we turn the other cheek, but we are [28:30] willing to take this because on the very [28:32] important issue of security, the [28:35] Jordanians are filling a vacuum in a [28:38] positive way. And therefore, once again, [28:41] Israelis don't like it when Jordanians [28:43] speak the way they do. [28:46] Jordanian leadership, [28:48] but we like the security cooperation, [28:50] and we think as much as the the the [28:51] monarchy there can be annoying. Yes. and [28:55] as we've just seen in the United Nations [28:57] and be part of the anti-Israel diet [28:58] tribe, maybe the alternative is much [29:00] worse. [29:01] >> Okay, so here's the thing. I don't [29:03] dispute that we need to have security [29:07] cooperation with our neighbors. I don't [29:09] dispute that it's not perfect, etc. I I [29:13] agree with everything you said except [29:14] for one thing and that is that the [29:17] excuse of being encouraging hostility [29:21] against Israel at the UN and everywhere [29:23] else especially with the explosion of [29:25] violent anti-semitism all over the world [29:28] and therefore words matter they always [29:30] have mattered and let me tell you [29:31] something he the uh years ago when um [29:36] there was a discussion about whether [29:38] Israel uh should withdraw from the [29:41] Jordan alley. I spoke to someone, I [29:44] won't mention who it is, who's uh in the [29:46] then um the first um Trump [29:49] administration or beforehand, [29:51] could have been in the Bush [29:52] administration, I don't even remember [29:54] anymore because these things repeat [29:56] themselves constantly. Someone in the [29:59] administration said to me when we were [30:00] discussing about that, said, "No, no, [30:02] there's no way Israel can keep the [30:05] Jordan Valley. It's got it's got to [30:07] withdraw from the Jordan Valley." And do [30:09] you know that the Jordanian the monarchy [30:13] came? There were, you know, back channel [30:15] talks. No, no, don't you dare withdraw [30:18] from there. Because they were afraid of [30:20] an infiltration of Palestinians [30:23] into Jordan to overthrow the monarchy. [30:26] Now, why do I get enraged? It's not [30:28] just, oh, he just said these things and [30:31] we, you know, we get annoyed. It's not [30:33] annoying. It's worse than that. It's the [30:35] same thing with Lebanon. We the these [30:38] countries are depending on us to help [30:40] them uh be secure against people who [30:43] would overthrow them and then they go in [30:45] public and and vilify us and say that [30:49] we're the ones responsible for the [30:51] plight of those people whom he attacks. [30:55] And by the way, the same as I said, [30:56] Lebanon, we are destroying and the [31:00] Lebanon government who's in now [31:02] negotiations with us, brokerage by the [31:04] United States, has the nerve to [31:06] constantly say that we're in invading [31:09] its sovereignty. We're helping Lebanon. [31:12] We don't want to we don't want to take [31:14] over Lebanon. We just don't want to be [31:16] slaughtered byah from Lebanon. And so [31:20] when I say to you, I am sick and tired [31:21] of these leaders going out in public and [31:24] saying these horrific things. And just [31:26] one more point. [31:28] Just after October 7th or shortly after [31:31] a few weeks after the October 7th [31:33] massacre, you and I were working at the [31:35] prime minister's office together and we [31:37] had an argument because Queen Rana came [31:40] out and announced uh Queen Rana, in [31:43] other words, the wife of King Abdalah [31:46] and announced that it was a lie that [31:49] that um Israeli women or all the women [31:53] um in southern Israel were raped. She [31:56] denied there were rapes. Now there were [31:59] videos, facts. Everybody saw it. There [32:02] was evidence and proof. Not only women [32:05] were raped, men were also viciously [32:08] sexually assaulted. I could be graphic [32:10] and I won't, though I think we should be [32:13] because I think a lot of people don't [32:15] grasp how horrific those attacks were. [32:17] And Queen Rana said that miss women's [32:20] rights and children's rights. And I said [32:23] to you, we need to attack her. And you [32:25] said the government of Israel really [32:27] can't do that because we have delicate [32:29] relations with Jordan. So my feeling [32:32] that's why I say you're a diplomat and [32:34] I'm not. I say to hell with being have [32:39] delicate relations. How dare they accuse [32:42] us of crimes we didn't commit. Vilify us [32:45] at the UN and everywhere else when they [32:47] need our help. [32:48] >> So now I no longer work for the [32:49] government and I can say that I don't [32:52] know where she was coming from. The [32:53] queen, right? Maybe because she's [32:55] Palestinian, maybe she doesn't like [32:56] Israel, whatever the thing. But to deny [32:58] the sexual atrocities against women on [33:00] October 7th is to deny reality. And [33:03] anyone who does that, you've got to ask [33:04] what's going on there. What is the [33:06] motivation? [33:06] >> You don't need to ask. You know what's [33:08] going on. [33:08] >> Okay. But I'd like to say something on a [33:10] larger point uh which is and we've got [33:14] used to it over the years and I think [33:16] western governments have got used to it [33:17] over the years that there's this [33:19] difference with Arab governments and in [33:22] many of them we've got you know good [33:24] relations either above the table like [33:25] with Abraham Accords peace countries or [33:27] under the table with countries that have [33:29] yet to sign but will sign peace treaties [33:31] with Israel and that's this this [33:33] dichotomy. There's a the public message [33:35] which they you know will say at the UN [33:37] and in their media and in their speeches [33:39] and so forth and there's what they say [33:40] privately like you go to Arab countries [33:42] and when they speak publicly the they [33:44] talk about the Palestinians but when [33:45] they speak privately they don't give a [33:46] hoot about the Palestinians [33:48] >> worse they hate the Palestinians. Okay. [33:50] So, why am I saying this? We accept [33:52] that. That's part of the reality. That's [33:54] part of the screwed up way Arab politics [33:56] is because of course none of these [33:58] countries are democratic and none of [33:59] these countries have really free media [34:03] and so they feel they have to let off [34:04] steam and stuff and Israel and the West [34:07] have accepted this. Now, you don't [34:09] accept it. I think I made the right [34:11] decision when we were in government not [34:13] to criticize. I think the fact that our [34:16] border with Jordan is peaceful and that [34:19] the Jordanian government is determined [34:21] to maintain us as peaceful government. [34:24] We say on Seda night, you know, in the [34:26] Passover Seda for our non-Jewish viewers [34:28] and listeners, yes, we say it's enough, [34:31] right? So maybe I have lower [34:33] expectations than you, but I say if that [34:37] border is quiet and Israelis aren't [34:39] getting killed because of infiltration [34:40] across the border, Dano. But make your [34:43] last point because we're running out of [34:44] time, Ruthie. [34:45] >> Okay. Well, I guess my last point is [34:48] what I I'll talk about Mdani for one [34:51] second. Speaking of vicious anti-Israel, [34:54] anti-Semitic Islamist communists. Um, [34:58] and um, why am I bringing up the mayor [35:01] of New York City? Because when I said [35:03] words matter, that's what I meant. When [35:05] you're talking about everything you say [35:07] may be true, but as an example, you take [35:11] Mandani. He's not physically attacking [35:14] anybody, but his words are helping those [35:17] who do physically attack Jews. And um [35:21] this is what I mean about if if these [35:24] leaders who are saying peace, peace, [35:25] peace, Israel is an obstacle to peace. [35:29] What's an obstacle to peace? Are these [35:31] lies about Israel? Um especially from [35:34] peace partners with Israel. And when you [35:38] say, you know, they're ign they're not [35:40] ignorant of the facts. This is [35:41] purposeful and you know you're maybe [35:45] it's right I'm not a politician and I'm [35:47] not in government but I am allowed to [35:49] say that this is appalling and it does [35:52] encourage terrorism all over the globe. [35:55] It helps it it gives it it gives it um a [35:58] tailwind. [35:59] >> So I'll just respond to that. I can [36:01] understand the geopolitics [36:03] that explains to me why the Jordanians [36:05] do what they do for good and for bad. Uh [36:08] Mamani has no such excuse. He's a true [36:11] believer and what he says is no doubt is [36:14] creating an atmosphere that is [36:17] highlighting anti-semitism is [36:19] encouraging anti-semitism is encouraging [36:21] Jew hatred and there's no excuse for it [36:23] whatsoever and he can be unequivocally [36:26] condemned for that. [36:27] >> Well, on that cheerful note, at least we [36:31] agree on it, right? Um, on that cheerful [36:33] note, I think that we we should just [36:35] mention that today is um Thursday, [36:38] September 24th. That's when we're taping [36:41] this. And I bring that up because um the [36:45] speech delivered at the UN by uh Prime [36:48] Minister Netanyahu will be taking place [36:50] right around the time that this will um [36:54] will be online. So, we'll talk we'll [36:57] mention that next week, I suppose. And [36:59] who knows what else will happen between [37:01] now and then. [37:02] >> And I look forward to speaking to you [37:04] again then.
