[00:30] [music] You know what I love most about [00:32] these journeys? It's not just the [00:34] destinations. It's about the people you [00:37] experience the destinations [music] [00:38] with. There's something powerful that [00:41] happens when likeminded believers gather [00:43] together, open God's word, and then [00:45] explore the very world where that word [00:48] was first [music] proclaimed. Nine [00:50] nights aboard the beautiful Celebrity [00:52] Infiniti. Every meal prepared, every [00:55] detail taken care of, so all you have to [00:57] do is be present. [music] Casual [00:59] conversations over coffee, fellowship [01:02] around the table, and afternoons walking [01:04] the same roads Paul walked in Ephesus, [01:06] Kavala, and more. [02:44] Hi, I'm Robert Jeff and welcome again to [02:46] Pathway [music] to Victory. Many [02:48] Christians are happy to talk about God's [02:50] love and forgiveness, but they're [02:52] hesitant to acknowledge God's [music] [02:54] judgment. How could a loving God condemn [02:57] so many people to an [02:58] >> [music] [02:58] >> eternity in hell? Well, make no mistake [03:01] about it. God is love, but he's also a [03:05] God of justice. [music] [03:06] And today, we're going to look at a [03:08] powerful display of God's judgment [03:10] against the unrighteous. My message is [03:13] titled The Road to Armageddon [music] on [03:16] today's edition of Pathway to Victory. [03:25] There was a [singing and music] holy [03:26] hush all over [03:29] as I walked into [singing] the room [03:32] and I stood before him face to face. I [03:37] was gloriously made new. There was a [03:40] [singing and music] great and awesome [03:42] presence and a light as bright as day. [03:47] And when I bowed to [singing] kneel with [03:49] the angels, I heard the spirit say, [03:56] "Arise, [04:04] stand before the throne in the presence [04:08] of the [music] holy one. [04:11] You [04:21] [music] [04:22] might [04:27] [music] [04:28] [singing] [04:33] [music] shall rise [04:36] to me. [04:40] All right. [04:43] All [04:46] right. [04:58] >> [music] [05:03] >> Heat. Heat. [05:08] [music] [05:13] Oh, [05:22] [music] [05:28] [music] [05:39] [applause] [05:42] the book of Revelation. is filled with [05:44] fantastic imagery and vivid depictions [05:46] that many believers find intimidating. [05:48] But God's word was [music] never meant [05:50] to confuse or discourage you. In his [05:52] best-selling book, Final Conquest, Dr. [05:54] Robert Jeffress [music] walks you [05:56] through Revelation verse by verse, [05:58] explaining its signs and symbols in [06:00] plain terms you can understand. Request [06:02] your copy of Final Conquest when you [06:05] sign up to become a Pathway partner or [06:07] when you give a generous gift to support [06:09] the ministry of Pathway to Victory. [06:18] That is the heart of the unbeliever. [06:22] He has so hardened his heart against God [06:25] that he cannot longer feel the [06:28] conviction of God and he refuses to [06:30] repent. It reminds me of something I [06:33] read this week about a martial arts [06:35] technique called the iron palm. The iron [06:40] palm. It says, "People in martial arts [06:42] know that before they engage in [06:44] competition, one way to ensure victory [06:47] is to take their open palm and strike it [06:51] against a hard, blunt object. And if [06:55] they do that, it develops calluses on [06:57] their hand so that their opponent will [07:00] feel their blow even more strongly." And [07:04] so they do that repeatedly in in in [07:07] training. They strike that blunt object. [07:10] The only problem with that technique is [07:12] they so destroy their own nerve endings [07:15] they can't feel anything either any [07:17] longer. Their hand becomes useless to [07:20] them. Now you know this word blasphem. [07:23] Do you know what that word means? It [07:25] means to strike against. That's what an [07:28] unbeliever does. He instead of [07:31] repenting, he strikes against God. But [07:35] God is an immovable object. He doesn't [07:38] change. He doesn't alter. He doesn't [07:41] bend. The only person who is in injured [07:44] in blasphemy is the unbeliever. As he [07:47] strikes out against God, he so hardens [07:51] his own conscience that he can no longer [07:54] feel the conviction of God. He is no [07:56] longer capable of repentance. That's [07:59] what's going to happen in this fourth [08:01] bold judgment. Now notice the fifth bold [08:04] worldwide darkness. Verses 10 and 11. [08:07] Again, the fifth trumpet judgment [08:09] brought darkness over the whole earth. [08:12] This brings darkness over a very [08:14] specific place. Then the fifth angel [08:16] poured out his bowl on the throne of the [08:18] beast, and his kingdom became darkened, [08:21] and they gnawed their tongues because of [08:24] pain, and they blasphemed, there it is [08:27] again, the God of heaven, because of [08:29] their pains and their sores. and they [08:31] did not repent of their deeds. [08:34] This is targeted darkness. It comes over [08:38] the kingdom of the beast, the [08:41] antichrist. Where is the kingdom of the [08:43] beast? Revelation say, Revelation says [08:46] it will be Jerusalem. Remember after [08:50] signing that peace treaty with Israel, [08:53] the Antichrist breaks that peace treaty [08:55] and he defiles the temple just like [08:58] Antiochus Epiphies of old and he sets up [09:01] his false kingdom there. It's the city [09:04] of Jerusalem that will be darkened [09:07] again. And I don't understand it. Only [09:10] the unbelievers will be affected by this [09:14] again. Could this be some kind of solar [09:18] eclipse that causes this? Could it be [09:21] some kind of um failure of the power [09:24] grid or attack on the power grid in [09:26] Jerusalem that causes the darkness? We [09:28] don't have the explanation for how it [09:30] happens. But there's something about [09:32] darkness, especially in a time of [09:34] crisis, that exacerbates the fear and [09:38] the terror. There is a apocryphal book. [09:42] It's not included in our Bible. It's [09:46] called the wisdom of Solomon. It's part [09:49] of the Apocrypha. [09:51] And it describes what it was like in [09:54] Egypt when God darkened uh uh the nation [09:57] of Egypt as one of the plagues that God [10:01] sent in the time of Moses. And this is [10:03] this writer's description of what it was [10:05] like in Egypt. Listen to this. Nowhere [10:08] in their homes were they safe from the [10:12] fear of terrifying noises and the [10:15] frightening faces of gloomy ghosts. Even [10:18] if nothing else frightened them, they [10:21] were terrified by the sounds of wild [10:23] animals outside and by hissing snakes. [10:27] They were so frightened that they [10:29] refused to open their eyes. But keeping [10:31] them closed did not relieve their fears [10:34] because evil people are cowards [10:37] condemned by their own consciences. And [10:40] whatever they fear becomes even more [10:42] frightening. The Egyptians slept [10:45] restless on that night because of the [10:48] horrible and unexpected nightmares [10:50] brought on by the surrender of their [10:53] souls to the forces of evil. The [10:57] slightest noise paralyzed them with [11:01] fear. [11:03] It will be that way during that fifth [11:05] bowl judgment. Now look at the sixth [11:08] bowl judgment. You'll understand why I [11:12] titled this message the road to [11:14] Armageddon. Verse 12. The sixth angel [11:18] poured out his bowl on the great river, [11:20] the river Euphrates. And it was a mighty [11:24] river and its waters dried up so that [11:27] the way would be prepared for the kings [11:30] of the east. What is he talking about? [11:33] Remember back in Revelation 9 we saw the [11:36] prologue to this about the demonic [11:38] spirits being unleashed at the river [11:41] Euphrates to prepare that river for the [11:43] invasion of a 200 million person army [11:47] from the east. And here you see it [11:50] again. It's going to be dried up uh for [11:54] the um movement of the kings of the [11:57] east. We don't know where this 200 [12:00] million person army originates. Some [12:02] have speculated that it is China. China [12:05] has hundreds and hundreds and hundreds [12:07] of millions of men and women available [12:09] for military service. Others say it may [12:12] be from Iran or some amalgamation of [12:15] nations that come. But the river is [12:18] dried up to prepare the way for the [12:21] kings of the east to come where? To come [12:24] to Israel. Look at verse 13. And I saw [12:27] coming out of the mouth of the dragon [12:29] and out of the mouth of the beast and [12:31] out of the mouth of the false prophet [12:33] three unclean spirits like frogs. For [12:37] they are the spirit of demons, [12:39] performing signs which go out to the [12:41] kings of all the world to gather them [12:44] together for the war of the great day of [12:48] God the Almighty. Let's skip verse 15. [12:50] We'll go back there. And they gathered [12:52] them who the demons gathered the kings [12:56] of the world to the place which in [12:59] Hebrew is called Harageddon. [13:03] I'm going to get right back to the [13:05] message, but first a quick word. If [13:08] you're streaming Pathway to Victory on [13:09] YouTube today, thank you. [13:52] Many of us have been to that place [13:54] called Armageddon. Armageddon, uh, [13:57] literally the mount of Megiddo. If [14:00] you've been there, you know it's not a [14:01] mountain. It's really more like a little [14:02] hill. But underneath it is that vast [14:05] plane of Jezrael. When Napoleon stood [14:08] there hundreds of years ago, he looked [14:10] out on that plane and he said, "This is [14:13] the most natural battlefield in the [14:15] entire world. It is massive and it is [14:19] the sign of the final world conflict." [14:23] How will it occur? Most likely what is [14:26] going to happen is the kings of the east [14:29] who are under the thumb of the [14:30] antichrist who is the world dictator get [14:33] tired of his rule. They blame him for [14:37] all of the plagues coming upon the [14:38] earth. Have you ever heard the saying, [14:40] he who calls the shots takes the shots? [14:44] It's just natural to want to blame a [14:46] leader for any bad thing that happens. [14:48] So they decide it's time for a coup. [14:51] It's time to overthrow the antichrist. [14:54] Why in the world do they think they can [14:55] succeed in doing that? They are lured [14:58] there by the spirits, the demons of [15:02] Satan, of the dragon. Those are the ones [15:05] that bring the antichrist there. But [15:07] they are all under the direction of God [15:10] himself. God is bringing all of the [15:14] kings together in one place. All of the [15:17] armies of the world in one place in [15:20] order to experience his judgment. By the [15:23] way, you saw the same thing in the Old [15:24] Testament in First Kings 22. Remember [15:27] the story about how the evil spirits [15:29] lured King Ahab to Ramoth Gilead to do [15:33] battle where he was destroyed. [15:36] It was God who used those demons to do [15:39] that. God is sovereign even over demons. [15:42] He uses them to execute that judgment [15:45] and this one as well. Now again, if [15:48] you've seen the plane of Armageddon, the [15:51] plane of Jezrael, you know, as massive [15:53] as it is, it's not large enough for 200 [15:56] million people. Uh remember this battle [15:59] is really a war that extends up and down [16:02] the length of Israel, 200 miles. [16:05] Remember, we saw the the blood of the uh [16:09] uh people will flow up to the horse's [16:12] bridal, four and a half feet. But [16:14] Armageddon, the plain of Jezrael, is the [16:16] centerpiece of this battle. And they [16:19] will all be gathered together there for [16:21] this great battle. That's exactly what [16:24] happens here in the final world [16:26] conflict. All of the forces of the earth [16:28] are centered here in Israel. It is the [16:31] great battle of the Lord. That's what [16:35] John saw in this place called [16:37] Harmageddon. [16:40] Now, that prepares for the final [16:42] judgment, the final destruction. Look at [16:45] verse seven. Then the seventh angel [16:48] poured out his bowl upon the air. [16:52] Underline that. The air. And a loud [16:55] voice came out of the temple from the [16:57] throne, saying, "It is done." That is, [16:59] it's the final of these plagues, the [17:01] final of God's judgments. And there were [17:04] flashes of lightning and sounds and [17:06] peels of thunder. And there was a great [17:08] earthquake such as there had not been [17:10] seen since man came upon the earth. So [17:13] great an earthquake was it and so [17:15] mighty. We don't know again what this [17:17] is. But the fact that it's released in [17:19] the air. There's something that appears [17:21] to be thunder and lightning that follow [17:23] it. A great earthquake. Could this be a [17:25] nuclear exchange that takes place? When [17:28] you see the results of it, it certainly [17:30] sounds like that. Look at verse 19. The [17:33] great city was split into three parts. [17:35] What is that great city? All you have to [17:38] do is look at Revelation 14. It's [17:40] Jerusalem, the place where our Lord was [17:42] crucified. Revelation 14 says Jerusalem [17:45] will be split into three parts. And the [17:48] cities of the nations fell. New York, [17:51] Washington, London, Paris, Tokyo, and [17:54] Babylon the Great was remembered before [17:57] God to give her the cup of the wine of [18:00] his fierce wrath. What is Babylon? We'll [18:03] talk about that the next two Sundays. [18:06] It's not a city. It's a world system [18:09] that is opposed to God. Verse 20. And [18:12] every island fled away. What does that [18:15] mean? It's just talking about this [18:17] explosion, whatever it is, is so [18:19] cataclysmic that it forms great tidal [18:22] waves, great tsunamis that completely [18:24] engulf the islands. And the mountains [18:27] were not found. It levels every [18:29] mountain. and huge hailstones about 100 [18:33] pounds each. Can you imagine that? A [18:37] hailstone 100 pounds. You know, we get [18:40] upset if we get that P-sized hail. Oh, [18:42] what did it do to my car and my finish [18:44] or golf ballsiz hail? But a 100 pound [18:48] hail, it will come down from heaven upon [18:51] men. And what does man do? Here it is [18:53] again. They blasphemed God because of [18:56] the plague of hail. because its plague [18:59] was extremely severe. [19:05] How are we to understand this? [19:08] And how does this apply to us today? You [19:12] know, so many times I'll give you two or [19:14] three timeless principles from a passage [19:16] of scripture. Today, I just have one. [19:19] And I want you to write this truth down, [19:22] circle it, and remember it the rest of [19:24] your life. And here's the simple [19:26] principle. [19:28] God's judgment is not always immediate, [19:33] but it's always inevitable. [19:36] Let me say it again. God's judgment is [19:38] not always immediate, but it's always [19:40] inevitable. [19:42] There's an intriguing verse of [19:44] scripture, Ecclesiastes 8:11. [19:47] It says, "Because the sentence against [19:49] an evil deed is not executed immediately [19:53] quickly, [19:54] therefore the hearts of the sons of men [19:57] among them are fully given to do evil." [20:01] In other words, when people do wrong, [20:04] when punishment doesn't come [20:05] immediately, [20:07] it just makes them to want to sin more [20:09] and more and more. And it's the same in [20:13] our relationship with God. [20:16] If we go on sinning and there's no [20:19] result of it, no discomfort in our lives [20:22] because of it, we're tempted to think, [20:24] well, you know, maybe that God Pastor [20:27] Jeff preaches about isn't the real God. [20:30] Maybe God's not as concerned about sin [20:33] as Pastor Jeff says he is. Or they [20:37] think, well, maybe I've got a special [20:39] exemption from God's judgment because of [20:41] who I am. That's why he hasn't judged me [20:44] for my sin. [20:46] Or maybe they think maybe God doesn't [20:49] even exist because surely if he existed [20:53] and saw me doing what I'm doing, he [20:55] would judge it. People who reason that [20:58] way [21:00] confuse God's patience with God's [21:04] tolerance. [21:05] Don't make that mistake. [21:08] Today, if you are living in rebellion [21:11] against God and you've had no judgment [21:14] in your life, don't confuse God's [21:17] patience with God's tolerance for your [21:19] sin. The only reason that judgment [21:22] hasn't come yet is God is patient. He's [21:26] given you an opportunity, perhaps a last [21:28] opportunity, to repent and turn to him. [21:32] And the same thing is true for the [21:35] nation, the world we live in right now. [21:38] We shouldn't confuse God's patience with [21:40] God's tolerance. [21:42] We shouldn't as a world confuse God's [21:45] patience with God's tolerance. Just [21:47] because these judgments described in the [21:49] Bible haven't come yet doesn't mean [21:52] they're not coming. There will be a day [21:56] that God's patience runs out and all [21:59] that will remain is the terrifying [22:02] expectation of God's judgment. [22:06] Now, I want to close today by asking you [22:09] to go back to verse 15, the verse I left [22:12] out just a moment ago. It's in [22:14] parenthesis. [22:16] It says, Jesus said, "Behold, I am [22:20] coming like a thief. His second coming [22:24] is coming, his literal visible return to [22:26] earth. And blessed is the one who stays [22:29] awake and keeps his clothes so that he [22:33] will not walk about naked and men will [22:36] not see his shame. You read and say, [22:39] "No, what in the world is that about? [22:41] What does he mean? Jesus is coming back [22:43] again and you don't want to be naked [22:45] when he comes back again." [22:48] back in 1992 [22:50] when our family moved to Witchah Falls [22:53] to become the pastor there. It was [22:55] during November, December that we were [22:57] moving there and our house wasn't worked [22:59] out yet. So, they put us up along with [23:03] some of the other staff members in the [23:04] local Sheran Hotel that was just north [23:07] of Witchaw Falls. So, we would stay [23:10] there every night. It was a nice hotel [23:12] with one exception. They had a faulty [23:15] fire alarm system in the hotel. So the [23:19] first night we were there about 3:00 in [23:21] the morning, the fire alarm went off and [23:24] we raced out of there thinking the [23:26] building was on fire. We stood in the [23:28] parking lot and they explained to it us [23:31] it was a malfunction. [23:33] I was there in my pajamas. [23:36] I was so embarrassed, not to mention so [23:40] cold. [23:41] But even though I was as embarrassed, I [23:43] wasn't embarrassed as some of those [23:46] people who were standing there with a [23:48] lot less than pajamas on. [23:51] Leave it there. They were humiliated. [23:55] When the warning came, they didn't even [23:57] have time to put their clothes on. Now, [23:59] look, this is what the word of God is [24:01] saying. When that time of God's return [24:05] occurs, you don't want to be caught [24:08] naked and without the proper clothing. [24:11] He's not talking about pajamas. He's not [24:14] talking about physical clothing. He's [24:16] talking about your spiritual clothing. [24:20] How are you going to be dressed [24:21] spiritually? [24:24] If you think you can approach God in [24:27] your own righteousness, your goodness, [24:29] you're going to be embarrassed when [24:31] Christ returns. Remember the Bible says [24:34] your righteousness, the best you can do, [24:36] is like a filthy rag before God. Isaiah [24:39] 4064:6. [24:41] No, the only way you want to meet God [24:43] one day is dressed in the righteousness [24:46] of his son, Jesus Christ. And that's [24:49] what happens when you become a [24:51] Christian. When you trust in Christ as [24:54] your savior, [24:55] God takes all of the wrath, the anger, [24:58] the judgment that you and I deserve, and [25:01] he pours it out on his son, Jesus [25:03] Christ. That's what happened on the [25:05] cross 2,000 years ago. Jesus took the [25:09] punishment we deserve. God had to punish [25:11] somebody for our sins. Jesus took that [25:14] punishment. And when you trust in Christ [25:16] as your savior, Jesus takes all of God's [25:20] wrath. [25:22] And you get all of Jesus righteousness. [25:25] He puts on you the spiritual clothing of [25:27] his own son. So that when God sees you [25:30] as a Christian, he doesn't see your sin, [25:33] your failures, or mine. He sees the [25:36] perfection of his son Jesus Christ. [25:39] That's the only way to be dressed [25:40] spiritually when you meet the Lord one [25:43] day. That's why the himmwriter says, [25:45] "When he shall come with trumpet sound, [25:49] oh may I then in him be found dressed in [25:54] [music] his Christ righteousness alone, [25:57] thoughtless to stand before the throne. [26:01] On Christ the solid rock I stand. All [26:04] other ground is sinking sand. All other [26:08] ground is sinking sand. [26:13] [music] [26:17] Revelation chapter 16 gives us a [26:19] shocking preview of God's final [26:21] judgments on the earth and a powerful [26:23] warning to repent while there's still [26:26] time. That warning is why we're on the [26:29] air every single day of the year. As we [26:32] celebrate 30 years of ministry at [26:34] Pathway to Victory, I'm reminded that [26:36] faithful friends like you have kept this [26:38] message going out into homes, cars, [26:42] hospitals, and workplaces around [music] [26:44] the world. The mission is the same as it [26:46] was back in 1996. [26:49] The reach is greater, and the need for [26:51] clear, [music] trustworthy biblical [26:53] teaching has never been more urgent. [26:56] Your gift today keeps piercing the [26:58] darkness with the light of God's [music] [27:00] word. Now, please stay right there. I'll [27:02] be back with more Pathway to Victory [27:05] [music] in just a moment. Our world is [27:07] growing darker by the day. But the book [27:10] of Revelation teaches that one day soon [27:12] the darkness will pass and our [27:14] long-awaited King of Kings and Lord of [27:16] Lords will return and make his final [27:19] conquest. [27:20] >> The book of Revelation isn't just the [27:22] unveiling [music] of future events. It's [27:24] the unveiling of a person, Jesus Christ. [27:27] [music] [27:28] And in Final Conquest, my exclusive [27:31] commentary on Revelation, you'll [27:33] discover the great hope we have in [27:35] [music] the triumphant return of our [27:38] Lord Jesus Christ. [27:40] Request your copy of Final Conquest when [27:42] you give a generous gift to support the [27:44] ministry of Pathway to Victory or when [27:46] you become a Pathway Partner. And when [27:49] your ministry gift is $125 or more, [27:52] we'll also send you Dr. Jefferson's [27:54] book, Mysteries of the End Times, a [27:57] clear guide to your questions about the [27:59] rapture, the Tribulation, and the Return [28:01] of Christ, along with the complete Final [28:04] Conquest teaching series on DVD video [28:06] and MP3 [music] format audio disc. [28:09] >> And these line up exactly with the seven [28:11] sealed judgments [music] we see in [28:14] Revelation [28:15] 6. In light of current events and with [28:18] the return [music] of Christ so clearly [28:20] on the horizon, sharing the gospel [28:22] through Pathway to Victory has never [28:24] been more important or more urgent. So, [28:26] thank you for supporting Pathway to [28:28] Victory as together we pierce the [28:30] darkness of our [music] day with the [28:32] light of God's word. [28:37] One of the greatest mistakes you can [28:39] make in [music] life is to confuse God's [28:41] patience with God's tolerance for sin. [28:45] God may be patiently waiting for you to [28:47] turn from your sin, but his patience [28:50] won't last forever. And what's true for [28:53] us as individuals [music] is also true [28:55] for all of mankind. And next time, we'll [28:57] meet the great [music] harlot of [28:59] Babylon, a false religion that seduces [29:02] the world [music] and props up the [29:04] Antichrist himself. Stay tuned for a [29:06] preview of what's coming up next in our [29:08] series, Final [music] Conquest. [29:12] This world can unravel very very [29:14] quickly. And although it hasn't [29:17] unraveled yet, one day it is going to [29:20] unravel [music] [29:20] completely. [29:22] And that will set the stage for the [29:24] world dictator, the world leader we know [29:27] as Antichrist, who will preede the [29:30] return of Jesus Christ himself.
