StandWithUs Statement on UK Sanctions on Israel: This is a sad day in the history of British foreign policy. StandWithUs deplores and condemns the announcement of trade sanctions targeting Israeli communities in the West Bank/Judea & Samaria and eastern Jerusalem. It is an unjust, discriminatory and counterproductive measure that risks damaging prospects for peace rather than advancing them. Measures of this kind place pressure overwhelmingly on one side of a deeply complex conflict while doing nothing to address Palestinian incitement, terrorism, or rejectionism. Rather than encouraging Palestinian leadership to work towards peace, sanctions risk reinforcing those who believe international pressure can replace negotiation, compromise, and direct engagement.
