@wccubbison They might agree to Smotrich and not Ben-Gvir

@joshtpm Let’s see if Balad is willing to recommend a former IDF chief of staff to be prime minister. What they’re saying now is let’s work to bring down Netanyahu.

@nycvoter I think they can work together to be a huge thorn in Netanyahu’s side but there’s no Israeli government that will be able to satisfy what the Joint List needs to join it. Unless they make a huge Ra’am-esque change. Remember that Balad wouldn’t even recommend Gantz to unseat Bibi.

Are there some things the Eisenkot and Arab blocs can do together to hinder Netanyahu's efforts to form a government? Absolutely. But it still remains extremely unlikely that, say, Ahmed Tibi is going to be in the government.

These comments are clueless. 12 out of the 19 seats that are going to Arab parties according to the latest count belong to a party that refuses to be part of any Israeli government. And the remaining 7 seats aren't enough for the opposition to reach a majority. x.com/PhilGordonDC/s…

The most accurate exit poll was i24, whose pollster people dismissed as right-leaning because he used to work for Netanyahu. (It got less attention than the Channel 14 poll, though.) x.com/avishaigrinzai…

@blobblo07476369 @yuvalpi I’m not talking about a coalition. You don’t need a government to pass laws in the Knesset. I assume you didn’t read the article that this whole thread is about.

@blobblo07476369 @yuvalpi While you’re right, the definition is more nuanced, leading joint list candidates have said clearly that they want to act to bring down Netanyahu which is why I think that legislation to that end has a chance.

@blobblo07476369 @yuvalpi Every Knesset member gets a vote whether s/he is Zionist or not, and as such a Knesset with an anti-Bibi majority can still pass laws that the pro-Bibi plurality won’t like.

In my defense, at this point there is still an anti-Bibi majority so everything in my analysis is relevant except the probability of Herzog giving Eisenkot the first shot at forming a coalition. Let’s see where that stands in a few hours!

In the Channel 13 exit poll, Likud received 25 seats in the Knesset, while Eisenkot’s Yashar has 23, while his bloc had 53 seats and the bloc supporting Netanyahu had 50. Record 17 seats for Arab parties. On Channel 12, Likud received 24 seats and Yashar had 22, while
