Klára Schneiderová, the 30-year-old head of the Czech Embassy’s Jerusalem branch office, has died after being struck by a minibus on Agrippas Street. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. Schneiderová was rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in critical condition but later died from her injuries. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar expressed his condolences, calling Schneiderová “a dedicated senior diplomat and a true friend to Israel.” The Czech Embassy remembered her as a bright, warm and outstanding diplomat. Her body will be returned to the Czech Republic for burial, while the country’s Foreign Ministry will reportedly fly a black flag in her honor.

A container ship operating for Israeli shipping company ZIM has sunk in the Black Sea after being struck by three explosive-laden unmanned boats near Bulgaria’s coast. Qatar has strongly denied allegations that it interfered in Israel’s elections or financed efforts to influence the results. Flydubai pilot Smit Machchhar has received one of the UAE’s prestigious honors after helping stop a terrorist attack aboard a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv last month. During the incident, Machchhar was struck in the back of the head with an emergency axe by his own co-pilot. Despite his injuries, he fought to protect himself and struggled to open the cockpit door so others could intervene and stop the attack. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan awarded Machchhar and the rest of Flight 1073’s crew the First Class Order of Zayed II for their bravery in protecting passengers. The medals were presented by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, with visible scars still marking the back of Machchhar’s head during the ceremony.
